Fremont, Nebraska- The Nebraska Prospects recorded their eleventh straight win and defeated the Fremont Moo 9-7, Thursday night at Historic Moller Field. Fremont dropped all three games in the series and suffered a home series sweep for the first time in two years. With the loss, the Moo losing streak reached four games.


The Prospects started the scoring in the top of the first. Tre' Mungin led off with a walk and Colin Lynam followed with a base hit. A double-steal put runners on second and third. Then, a Cole Hupke wild pitch scored Mungin, making it 1-0.


Fremont responded, though, in the bottom of the first. Blake Tablazon led off with a walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Josh Blount delivered an RBI single, scoring Tablazon, making it 1-1. Two batters later, Conner Petersen singled to put runners out the corners. A wild pitch from Prospects' starter Charlie Mosser scored Blount to put Fremont up 2-1. After Henry Hayman grounded out to second, advancing Petersen to third, another Mosser wild pitch scored Petersen, to make it 3-1, Fremont.


The Moo extended the lead in the bottom of the second. With one out, Hunter Palmer drew a walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch, stole third, then scored on another wild pitch. Tablazon and Blount drew back to back walks, which chased Mosser from the game. Cameron Pickens took over on the mound and walked Tyman Long to load the bases. Then, Petersen hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Tablazon, to make it 5-1. Hayman delivered an RBI single to center, scoring Blount, to put the Moo up 6-1, after two innings.


However, everything changed in the fourth inning, as the Prospects sent eleven batters to the plate. Kadyn Van Hill took over on the mound for Fremont. With one out, Prospects' catcher Britton Bond singled, Jackson Meier was hit by a pitch, Jake Williams walked and Cade Lynam drew a bases loaded walk to make it 6-2. Mungin delivered an RBI single, scoring Meier, making it 6-3. Colin Lynam got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, making it 6-4. Then, Cole Kitchens hit a 2-RBI single, plating Mungin and Colin Lynam, to tie the score at six. Two batters later, Nathan Cunningham hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Colin Lynam, to put the Prospects in front, 7-6.


Fremont knotted the score in the bottom of the fourth. With one out, Blount drew a base on balls. Long singled and Petersen did the same, to load the bases. Hayman hit a slow bouncer to third, which forced Long out, but Blount scored to make it seven, all.


The Prospects took the lead for good in the top of the fifth. With one out, Jake Williams singled and Cade Lynam drew a walk. After a Mungin strikeout, Colin Lynam hit a bouncing ball to Hayman at third. His throw did not connect with Tablazon covering at second and Williams put the Prospects up 8-7.


In the seventh, the Prospects added one more. With one out, Williams was hit by a pitch and stole second. Cade Lynam drew a walk to put runners at first and second. Two batters later, Colin Lynam was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Then, Williams scored on a Zane Leyden wild pitch, making it 9-7.


Like Wednesday night, the Moo made it interesting in the bottom of the ninth. Petersen led off with a single off Prospects fire-baller Jackson Jelkin. Darius Blasingane came in to pinch run for Petersen. Then, Henry Hayman struck out looking, Andrew Kirchener singled to put runners at first and second, bringing the winning run to the plate. However, Jelkin got Jansen looking at a 1-2 pitch for the second out, then struck out pinch hitter Jayson Willers on a 3-2 cutter for the final out of the game.


The Prospects starter Charlie Mosser pitched 1.1 innings, giving up two hits, six runs, five walks, striking out one and throwing five wild pitches. Cameron Pickens pitched 1.2 innings, giving up one hit, one walk, struck out two and had one wild pitch. Tadyn Bell (1-0) earned the win. He pitched three innings giving up two hits, one run, struck out one and walked one. Casey Trapp pitched a perfect seventh inning. Then, Jackson Jelkin (1) pitched 2.0 innings for the save, giving up three hits, walked one and struck out five.


Fremont starter Cole Hupke pitched 3.0 innings. The Brandon, South Dakota native gave up one hit, one run, walked three and struck out five with one wild pitch and hit one batter. Kadyn Van Hill (0-1) took the loss. In his longest outing of the year, the Omaha native at Iowa Western Community College pitched 3.1 innings, giving up five hits, seven earned runs, walked four, struck out five and hit three batters. Zane Leyden, the Firth, Nebraska native at Bellevue University, pitched 1.2 innings, giving up two walks, struck out one and hit one batter. Brandon Lundquist, the Omaha native at the University of Nebraska, pitched 1.0 inning, giving up one walk and striking out one.


The Prospects' Tre' Mungin was 1-for-5 with an RBI. Colin Lynam was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Cole Kitchens was 1-for-4 with two RBI's. Nathan Cunningham was 1-for-5 with an RBI and Cade Lynam was 0-for-1 with an RBI and four walks.


For Fremont, Josh Blount was 1-for-1. Playing in his final game for the Moo, the DePere, Wisconsin native at Iowa Central Community College, drove in one run. Conner Petersen was 3-for-5. The Tucson, Arizona native at Midland University was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Henry Hayman was 1-for-5. The Melbourne, Australia native from Barton County Community College drove in two runs, and Andrew Kirchener, the Lakewood, California native at UNLV, went 2-for-4.


More Information: For the first time this season, the Moo dropped a home series. Plus, the Moo got swept in a series at home for the first time in two years. 


Up Next: The Nebraska Prospects (17-3, 3-0) will begin a three game series at the Oahe Zap, Monday, July 3rd. He has struck out 12 batters and has only allowed 6 players to reach base. #18 - OF TANNER JACOBSEN (B/T: R/R) Jacobsen (Cloud County) is currently on a four-game hit streak. PROSPECTS: #15 - OF JACOB PERRIN (B/T: R/R) Perrin has 10 hits in 35 at-bats this season. He has the third highest BA on the Prospects at .286. He also leads the team with 6 RBIs this season. #23 - UTL CODY CIZEK (B/T: R/R) Cizek went 2-3 with 3 RBIs in the win over the Moo yesterday. Cizek crushed his first home run of the season with a three run blast over the Moller Monster in the 9th.

The Fremont Moo fell to the traveling Prospects in the Sunday afternoon contest by a score of 7-1 The Moo’s win streak was at seven straight, and they came into another scorching hot afternoon at Moller Field looking for another win Doane’s Broc Songster took the mound for the Moo and provided another stellar outing, going six innings, allowing one unearned run on four hits while striking out three Prospects. Jaxson Cahoy would match Songster on the mound, throwing six clean innings and striking out six batters. The first run would come for the Prospects in the third. An unearned run would cross the plate on a sac fly to make it 1-0 Prospects. The game would stay 1-0 until the seventh inning, when both teams would put runs on the board. The Prospects would make it 2-0 with another sac fly, and the Moo would answer with an RBI groundout from Jake Mitchell, scoring Tanner Jacobsen (Cloud County) to make it 2-1, Prospects still in front by a run. The score would hold until the top of the ninth when the Prospects scored five runs to make it 7-1, effectively putting the game away and ending the Moo’s seven-game win streak. The final line saw the Moo score one (1) run on six (6) hits and commit five (5) errors. The Prospects scored seven (7) runs on nine (9) hits and had no errors. The Moo drops to a 10-12 record. The Prospects pick up their record at 3-7. The Fremont Moo took their seventh win in a row from the Nebraska Prospects, in a run-rule affair, 19-9 in eight innings. It was roses at the start for the Moo. The first six innings saw twelve runs cross the plate for Fremont. In the second, it was Preston Gajewski (NOC-Tonkawa) who brought Grant Ryan (Northwest CC) back to even it at one. Next batter, Brady Brown (South Dakota State) would single home Brayden Jones (Doane) to give the Moo the lead. Another run would score to make it 3-1 Moo, at the end of the second. The next inning would see the Moo push two across to make it 5-2 Moo. Grant Ryan would highlight the inning with an RBI double. The fourth would see the Moo explode for five runs. Grant Ryan, Brinden Floyd (RCSJ), Cooper Fuchino (Creighton), Caiden Brezinski (Butler), and Brady Brown would all score to make it 10-2 Moo. Two more would cross in the fifth as Michael Baker (Cal State-Chico) would drive home two. It was 12-2 Moo as the Prospects would face the deficit head-on. The Prospects would make it a ballgame. Four runs in the sixth, two runs in the seventh, and a lone run in the eighth. The scoreboard read 12-9 heading to the bottom of the eighth. That's when the Moo mashers would come alive. Doubles from Grant Rychnovsky (Northwestern), Brayden Jones, Brady Brown, and Caiden Brezinski would all find the gap and bring home runs, six in total, before Michael Baker stepped in. Baker needed a hit to bring home Brezinski to walk off the Prospects, and he would do that. The scoreboard read 19-9, and by ILB rules, a 10-run rule ended the game. The final line saw the Moo score nineteen (19) runs on sixteen (6) hits and commit six (6) errors. The Prospects scored nine (9) runs on nine (9) hits and had four (4) errors. The Moo improves to a 10-11 record. The Prospects sink to a 2-7 record on the season. Aiden McGrath (Skyline) picks up his first win of the season while Cody Cizek is handed the loss. The Moo are back at Moller Field on Sunday, June 22nd, as they go for win number 11 on the season.

The Moo picked up their sixth win in a row with a 9-5 victory over the Plainsmen on Fiesta Friday at Moller Field. The temperature matched the team's recent form as it reached 96 degrees at first pitch from Moller Field. The Moo’s sights set on win number six with a win against the Plainsmen to end the three-game series. Zach Vincent (Midland) got the nod opposite Matthew Avery, and the two would duel three shutout innings until the Plainsmen got to Vincent in the fourth, with a Jake Steffes two-RBI single giving the Plainsmen a 2-0 lead. The Moo would answer in the bottom of the frame with a lone run crossing with Tyler Wise (Kansas Wesleyan) getting plunked with the bases loaded. The Moo would strand the bases loaded as the scoreboard read 2-1 Plainsmen. The bottom of the sixth would be the Moo’s biggest inning. With two runners on, Luke Saxton (Missouri-St. Louis) would drive home a pair with a single to give his Moo the lead. He would later add to the lead with a wild throw into center on a check throw would allow Saxton to score. Jake Mitchell would end the innings scoring with a two-down the right field line to make it 6-2 Moo at the end of the 6th. Three more runs would score for the Moo in the bottom of the 8th. A fielder’s choice would bring home one, and the next two would score on a Cooper Fuchino (Creighton) single to make it 9-2 Moo at the end of the eighth. Baden Gluth (Creighton) was on the mound for the ninth to slam the door shut. It would get a little hectic as Brody Boyle would triple home three to pull it within four. Gluth would hunker down and secure the final out and the win. 9-5 Moo as they cruise to their sixth win in a row. The final line saw the Moo score nine (9) runs on six (6) hits and commit three (3) errors. The Plainsmen scored five (5) runs on nine (9) hits and had six (6) errors. The Moo improves to a 9-11 record. The Plainsmen fall 0-3 on the season. Parker Otte (Iowa Central) picks up his second win of the season while Breken Mason is handed his first loss of the season. The Moo are back at Moller Field on Saturday, June 21st, as they face the Prospects to begin the final series of the home stand.

South Dakota State Studs Both Nate Wachter and Brady Brown secured two hits in yesterday's game. They provided half of the team's eight (8) hits in the contest. Hit Streaks Seve Aguirre (Southeastern Oklahoma State) and Micahel Baker (Cal State-Chico) are both currently amid 5-game hit streaks. Baker has a .714 average in that span, while Aguirre has a.389 average since hit hit streak began. Traveling Plainsmen The traveling Plainsmen continue their 18-game, all-away schedule. It will be the only time the Plainsmen play the Moo all season. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLAYERS TO WATCH FOR: FREMONT: #24 - INF GRANT RYAN (B/T: R/R) Ryan (Northwest CC) collected his first hit in a Moo uniform yesterday. It came in a big spot, as he drove in two runs to help secure the 5-0 win. #18 - OF TANNER JACOBSEN (B/T: R/R) Jacobsen (Cloud County) got the offense going in yesterday’s, swiping home on a based ball to give the Moo a 1-0 lead, and then hit a sac fly to make it 2-0. He also collected a hit in the win. PLAINSMEN: #2 - OF BRADY ALEXANDER (B/T: R/R) Alexander plays a fine outfield while also being a top bat in the Plainsmen line up. He had a single in yesterday’s game. #7 - INF DAX WANDLER (B/T: R/R) Wandler was the only Plainsmen to not strike out in yesterday's game. He also plays an exception infield, making a couple of fine picks yesterday.

Luca Dickinson was the man of the night at Moller Thursday as the Moo wins their fifth straight with a final of 5 to 0. The hottest team in the Independence League took the field on Thursday night, looking to extend their win streak to five straight. Luca Dickinson would be the man to lead the charge toward the goal. With his mother in attendance, Dickinson (Skyline) would spin a complete game shutout, striking out a season-best eleven (11) batters. He would allow three (3) hits and hit one (1) batter. The defense behind was perfect, committing no errors while starting two double plays behind Dickinson. The offense started slow, waltzing through four innings scoreless until the fifth, when Tanner Jacobsen (Cloud County) would score on a passed ball to give the Moo a 1-0 lead. Jacobsen would strike again with a sac fly in the sixth to make it 2-0, as Nate Wachter (South Dakota State) would score from third. The Moo would blow it open in the seventh inning, scoring three. One on a Grant Rychnovsky (Northwestern) sacrifice fly, and the next two on a Grant Ryan (Northwest CC) single to make it 5-0 Moo. Dickinson would shut down the Plainsmen for the final three innings to secure the Moo’s fifth win in a row, 5-0 Moo, the final. The final line saw the Moo score five runs (5) on seven (7) hits and had no errors. The Plainsmen were shut out on three (3) hits and committed two (2) errors. The Moo improves to an 8-11 record. The Plainsmen fall 0-2 on the season. Luca Dickinson picks up his second win of the summer while Manny Barazza gets handed the loss. The Moo are back at Moller Field on Friday, June 20th, as they face the Plainsmen to finish the three-game series.
