Fremont Rolls to 11-3 Win Over Salina

SALINA, Kan. – Fremont Moo continued its three-game series against the Salina Sliders on Wednesday night, cruising to an 11-3 victory.
After a scoreless first inning, Jacob Coshenet led off the second with a two-out single to get the momentum rolling. Matthew Marceau singled down the third-base line to advance Coshenet to second. Brayden Mitchell kept the rally alive with a single to right field, driving in Coshenet and Marceau to give the Moo a 2-0 lead.
Salina tied the game in the third, scoring two runs to even the score at 2-2.
Coshenet led off the fourth with a single, and Marceau reached on a fielder's choice. Mitchell singled to put runners on the corners before a groundout allowed Marceau to score. Giovanni Malatesta followed with a single to bring home Mitchell and give the Moo a 4-2 lead.
The Moo extended its lead in the fifth as Strader Richardson led off with a one-out single up the middle. Coshenet followed with a single to put two runners aboard. Marceau delivered the third consecutive single of the inning to score Richardson, and Mitchell added another RBI single to bring home Coshenet, making it a 6-2 game.
After a scoreless sixth inning, the Moo broke the game open in the seventh. Coshenet, Mitchell and Ripken Fleck drew three consecutive walks to load the bases before Malatesta crushed a grand slam to left field, extending the lead to 10-2.
Salina added its final run in the bottom of the seventh to make it 10-3.
Fleck led off the ninth with a single to left field, and Malatesta was hit by a pitch before Carter McPeak drew a walk to load the bases. Eamon O'Gorman then drew a bases-loaded walk to score Fleck and cap the scoring at 11-3.
Cody Bruss earned the win after tossing 8.1 innings, allowing two earned runs on the night while striking out three.
