Coshenet's Two-Homer Performance Powers Moo to Series Sweep

SALINA, Kan. – Fremont Moo wrapped up its three-game series in Salina, Kansas, by cruising past the Salina Sliders in the finale with a 16-5, seven-inning run-rule victory.
After a scoreless first inning, the Moo got on the board in the second. Brayden Mitchell drew a one-out walk to get things started before Jacob Coshenet ripped a two-out double to score Mitchell and give the Moo a 1-0 lead at the end of the inning.
The Moo broke the game open in the third. Ripken Fleck, Giovanni Malatesta and Eamon O'Gorman drew three consecutive walks to load the bases. Easton Leahy laced a double to left field to score Fleck and Malatesta. Coshenet then crushed a three-run home run over the left-field fence to extend the lead to 6-0. Matthew Marceau reached on an error, and Tyler Schroeder followed with a two-out RBI single to make it 7-0.
Salina answered with a two-run home run in the bottom of the third and added another run in the fourth to cut the deficit to 7-3.
Mitchell led off the fifth with a single. Two wild pitches allowed him to advance to third before Strader Richardson drove him home with a groundout. Coshenet stepped to the plate and launched his second home run of the night over the left-field fence, extending the lead to 9-3.
The Sliders chipped away in the sixth, scoring two runs to trim the deficit to 9-5.
Malatesta led off the seventh with a double before O'Gorman singled down the right-field line to score him. Leahy followed with a single, and Richardson reached on a fielder's choice. Coshenet and Marceau drew back-to-back walks to load the bases, forcing in Leahy to make it 11-5. Schroeder kept the inning alive with a two-out single to center field, driving in Coshenet and Richardson to extend the lead to 13-5.
Malatesta was hit by a pitch to begin the seventh before O'Gorman singled to put two runners aboard. Leahy lifted a sacrifice fly to score Malatesta and make it 14-5. Mitchell drew a walk to put runners on the corners, and Richardson doubled to center field to score O'Gorman and Mitchell, pushing the lead to 16-5.
The Moo retired the Sliders in the bottom of the seventh to secure the 16-5 run-rule victory and complete the three-game series sweep.
Wyatt Throckmorton earned the win after allowing five earned runs on six innings while striking out three.
