Moo take their 4th win and 1st of 6 in a row against the Spearfish Sasquatch 10-4.

Fremont, NE- The Moo take their 4th win of the season and 1st in 6 straight games in a home and home against the Spearfish Sasquatch 10-4. The Moo move to 4-2 on the season while the Spearfish move to 2-8 with the loss.
The first action of the game for either team would be by the Moo in the bottom of the 3rd as C Trey Nichols hit a double down the left-field line and then was advanced to 3rd on a groundout by INF Ty Borgogno. INF Kanin Dodge got his first RBI of the night knocking in Nichols with another double down the left-field line. OF Derian Morphew would then knock in Dodge with an RBI triple to make it a 2-0 ballgame in favor of the Moo.
Spearfish would answer back in the top of the 4th off a sacrifice fly to right-field by OF Trey Vorwald to score INF Ryan Bachman from 3rd to cut the lead in half before a wild pitch would score INF Gabe Springer from 3rd to tie up the ballgame.
The teams would trade outs back and forth until the bottom of the 6th when the team leader in HRs Ian Graf would add his 6th of the year to the lumberyard across the street from the left-field wall to make it 3-2. The Moo would then score 7 in the bottom of the 7th starting with a walk to OF Evan Rowe then a single by Nichols and another walk to Borgogno would load up the bases for Dodge to get walked scoring Rowe. An RBI single by Morphew would score Nichols and Borgogno before another RBI single by INF Nico Azpilcueta scored Dodge. INF/P Nick Balch would then launch a missile over the left-field monster wall into the lumberyard for a 3-run jack to make it the 10-2 ball game.
The Sasquatch would score 2 in the top of the 9th off a C Bailey Bordas homerun that scored Vorwald as well to make it 10-4 but they couldn't manage anything more and take their 8th loss of the season. RHP Brady Bowen takes his 2nd win of the season for the Moo going 6 innings allowing 2 runs on 4 hits striking out nine in the process. Jacob Ortiz takes the save after going the last 3 innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits striking out 6 to make it 15 on the night.
RHP Jack Hostetler takes the loss for the Sasquatch going 6 innings allowing 6 runs on 7 hits striking out 8 in the process. Moo won their fourth in a row thanks to Tyman Long’s four-for-four night and Brooks Kneifl’s outstanding game on the mound in a 10-0 over the Bison. Fremont entered game three of this series looking for their fourth straight win against the Bison. The Moo blew out the Bison 13-0 in game one of the series. Game two was a 5-4 finish that came down to the last batter, with the Moo slamming the door shut with the tying run on third and the go-ahead run on second. Would game three have the action from the games prior? After Brooks Kneifl (Wayne State) opened the contest with a scoreless first inning, the bats would boom right away. Tyman Long (North Dakota State) would drive home Rocco Geritano (SUSCC) for the first Moo run of the game. A few batters later and with the bases loaded, Bode Joyner (Redwood) would get hit by a pitch that would bring home the second run of the game. At the end of the inning, the Moo would be up, 2-0. Kneifl would work a clean second inning, allowing the Moo to return to the plate and really jump on the Bison starter, Brian Atkinson. Six runs would score on seven hits for the Moo in the inning. All but two batters would record a hit in the inning, and every hit was a single against Atkinson. The Moo led 8-0 after the inning concluded. Kneifl would fashion another quick inning, and the Moo would fashion another run. Tyman Long again, this time with an RBI double to pull another run home to score the ninth run of the contest. Both teams would go scoreless in the fourth, and the Bison would get shut out in the top of the fifth. The Moo would bring a tenth run across in the bottom of the frame with Nate Wachter (South Dakota State) driving in Long to make it 10-0 Moo. That score would hold as Brooks Kneifl would continue his dominance on the mound. Kneifl would strike out ten batters in total —with his final K to end it— en route to his first complete game shutout of the season, as the Moo secure the 10-0 win in seven innings to get back to an even 19-19 record. The Moo scored ten (10) runs on fourteen (14) hits and committed one (1) error. The Bison scored no runs on three (3) hits and were perfect defensively. Kneifl’s fantastic start would earn him the win, while Brian Atkinson would get handed the loss. Fremont moves to a 19-19 record overall and a 9-6 second-half record. Moo go for their fourth straight win
Fremont picks up two wins on the day, defeating the Nebraska Prospects 5-4 and the Bison 5-4. It was a special two-team, doubleheader on Sunday afternoon as the Moo would face the Nebraska Prospects in game one, and the Bison Baseball Club in game two—both games were seven-inning contests. The Prospects entered with a 7-16 record, the Bison at 0-9, and the Moo at 16-19 with a 6-6 second-half record. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game One The first game of the doubleheader saw the Nebraska Prospects as the Moo’s adversary. The Moo had faced the Prospects ten times leading up to Sunday’s midday battle, and this one was just as good as the others. The Moo would strike first in the second as 2023 ILB MVP Tyman Long (North Dakota State) would go deep to left, giving the Moo a 1-0 lead. The Prospects scored in the top of the third because of a Moo throwing error, evening the score at one. The bottom of the third saw the Moo push across two runs. A Tanner Jacobsen (Cloud County) would bring home Bode Joyner to put the Moo back in front. Then, Cooper Fuchino (Creighton) would sacrifice himself to bring home Luke Saxton (MO-St. Louis), making it 3-1 Moo at the end of the third. Fremont got another run in the fourth, thanks to a Luke Saxton single to right, driving in Nate Wachter from second. The Moo stood in front 4-1 at the end of the fourth. The Prospects would put up a fight in the fifth and sixth. A two-run home run from Paul Schyuler would pull them within a run of the lead in the fifth. The sixth would see Mike Valdivia lean back and drive a home run over the Moller Monster, tying the game at 4. It came down to the last at-bat in the seventh. Two walks and a single would load the bases for Luke Saxton. Saxton would drive a grounder through into left, scoring Seve Aguirre (SE Oklahoma State), giving the Moo the 5-4 walk-off win in game one. Joe Hauser would get the win for the Moo as they would score five (5) runs on nine (9) hits, while committing three (3) errors. Nikola French would get the loss as the Prospects scored four (4) runs on five (5) hits and committed no errors. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game Two Back to the regularly scheduled series in game two as the Moo faced the Bison Baseball Club. The Bison entered winless on the season while the Moo looked for their third straight win. The Bison got off to a good start, taking a 3-0 lead at the end of the top of the second, but the Moo answered back in the bottom of the inning. Joshua Hardamon (Midland) would reach on a base hit and steal second, setting up Brayden Jones (Doane), who would drive him home with an RBI single. A few batters later, Caiden Brezinski (Butler) would drive in Jones to cut the deficit down to one, 3-2 at the end of the inning. Broc Songster (Doane) and Noah Knotts would go toe to toe from then on out. No runs given up from the third through the fifth. Cooper Lucas (East Texas Baptist) would relieve Songster in the sixth and strike out the side to send it to the bottom of the sixth. Joshua Hardamon would reach on his third hit of the game with one out in the sixth. Hardamon would steal second to set up Brayden Jones. Jones would hammer a pitch into the left-center gap, bringing home Hardamon to tie the game. A batter later, Grant Ryan (Southeast) would drive home Jones with a single to give the Moo a lead. Brezinski would score Ryan on a single to give the Moo some insurance. The scoreboard read 5-3 Moo at the end of the sixth. Cooper Lucas took the mound in the seventh, looking for his first win of the season. A pair of walks would begin the inning. A wild pitch would move both runners up into scoring position. After securing the first out, ball four to Curtis Lindsey would bring home the runner from third to make it 5-4. Tyler Dunham (Midland) would enter in relief and try to get the final out with the tying run at third. Dunham would get the first batter to ground out and then win it with a strikeout. The Moo scored five (5) runs on ten (10) hits with two (2) errors. The Bison scored three (3) runs on four (4) hits and had no errors. Plenty of fireworks on Saturday night between the Moo and the Bison as Henry Hayman and Joshua Hardamon go deep to procure the 13-0 win over the Bison Baseball Club It was the dawn of a new series. The Moo entered on a three-game losing streak while the Bison plunged into the four-game series, having lost their last eight games. Both teams sought change on Saturday night in Fremont. The Moo bats came out swinging in the first. After a lead-off walk to Tanner Jacobsen (Cloud County), Rocco Geritano (SUSCC) would single following the Jacobsen walk. Henry Hayman (Akron) would drive in Jacobsen with an RBI double. Fourth man in the lineup, Tyman Long (North Dakota State), would give a glimpse of his 2023 MVP season self with an RBI double. Carter Schellsmidt (Valparaiso) would hit a sac fly into deep center field to bring home Long from third. The Moo’s four-run first would be the first time they have scored first in a game since June 30th. Fremont fired up in the third, scoring four runs on four hits. Joshua Hardamon (Midland) got the scoring started with an RBI single, bringing home Henry Hayman to open the scoring for the Moo in the inning. Carter Schellsmidt highlighted the inning with a bases-clearing double to make it 8-0 Moo at the end of the frame. The Moo bats remained hot in the fifth. Errors bite the Fremont Moo as they fall to the Hastings Sodbusters 11-3. Coming off a rainout, the Moo were well-rested for a rivalry matchup against the Hastings Sodbusters. Both teams sat at even second-half records entering. The Moo at 5-5 and the Sodbusters at 4-4. Someone had to get a win. The Sodbusters would strike first in the opening frame off of returner from the 2024 squad, Landon Mueller. The first five Sodbuster batters would collect five hits and score three runs in the first. Mueller would work out of it with a strike-em-out, throw-em-out double play. Mueller would work through two innings in his 2025 debut, giving up six hits and three runs while striking out three batters before making way for Aiden McGrath (Skyline) in the third. Errors would hinder the Moo in McGrath’s time on the bump. The Sodbusters would strike for a run in the third, three in the fourth, and two in the fifth. Every single run was unearned as the Moo committed four errors that would lead to those six runs. McGrath would exit before the sixth, giving the ball to Eli Larson (Sioux Falls) for the inning. Two more Sodbusters would score, one run earned and the other unearned, to make it 11-0 at the end of the top of the sixth. The Moo would conjure up a couple of runs in the bottom of the sixth. The legend of Rocco Geritano (SUSCC) would grow as his hustle would bring home a run, as a hurried throw to first would bring home the first Moo run, as Nate Wachter would score. The next batter, Cooper Fuchino (Creighton), would bring home Tanner Jacobsen (Cloud County) on a sacrifice fly to make it 11-2, Sodbusters still in front. That score would hold through the seventh and the eighth, with Creighton Jacobitz leading the way for the Sodbusters on the mound—eight innings, two unearned runs, on one hit, totaling four strikeouts–in his second start against the Moo this season. The Moo would put across a lone run on a Nate Wachter sac fly to bring home the Moo’s third run of the night. That would be the final run scored in the game as the Moo fall 11-3. Wednesday at Moller Field would not be an offensive explosion like the night prior, as the Moo would be shut out in the rubber match against the Spuds 9-0. The Moo won game one of the series, and the Spuds took game two. Much like the series played in Casper, it was game three to decide a series victor. Logan Anderson (Sioux Falls) would take the mound for his second start of the summer. He would work through the first and second without giving up a run. Rocco Geritano (SUSCC) would highlight the second inning with his defense. Bases were loaded against Anderson with one out. Cade Queen would hit a fly ball to center, where Geritano was covering. Geritano would come up throwing after securing the catch and throw out the runner, Sean Glatts, tagging up from second to third to end the second inning with a double play. Anderson would struggle a bit in the third, but his defense would come up big again. Cannon Billingsley would sit on third after his lead-off double and a bunt from Hank Harp. A passed ball would make for an exciting play at the plate. Cooper Fuchino (Creighton) would jump out of the squat and race to the backstop to collect the loose ball and fire home to the covering Anderson, who would tag Billingsley for the out. Anderson would work through the inning without allowing a run. The Moo bats would struggle against Spuds starter John Klus as he would navigate three scoreless innings without allowing a hit. Different name, same problems as when Brenan Daniel entered in the fourth, the Moo would manage just one hit during Daniel’s four innings of work in relief. Casper’s biggest offensive inning would come in the fifth. Five runs would score against Anderson to give the Spuds a five-run lead. Andrew Witt highlighted the inning with a two-RBI single. Neither team would produce any offense whatsoever from the bottom of the sixth until the top of the ninth. The Spuds would score four runs on two hits, three walks, a hit by pitch, and an error. The scoreboard read 9-0 in favor of the Spuds as they needed three outs to take the series and the win. Matthew Ramos would secure those outs to get the Spuds a victory.
