Moo Recap: 5/30 - Moo reverse sweep Spearfish to pick up third-straight win

"Las Vacas" take their third straight to take the series over the Spearfish

The rubber match of the 5-game series was set to be a good one. The Moo entered winners of the last two and looked to make it three in a row before heading to Pierre the next day. The Sasquatch looked to get back into the win column and take the series.

Chase Nelson (St. Thomas) took the mound for the Moo, opposite of Caleb Hoppe (Dakota State). Nelson would give up the first run as a fielding error and a wild throw from Rob Hodges (would allow the first Sasquatch run to score.

The top of the second would be all Moo as Hoppe had struggles throwing strikes. After walking the bases loaded, a run would score on a walk, a passed ball, and a groundout making it 3-1 Moo without registering a hit.

The Sasquatch would answer back in the bottom half of the inning, as Giovanni Mastrorosa (Captial U.) would bring home a run on a single and Ethan Mooser (Northern Colorado) would bring home another on asac fly to right to tie it at 3 at the end of the 2nd inning.

The third would spell disaster for Caleb Hoppe. 4 earned runs would cross the plate for the Moo, all charged against Hoppe. All nine would step to the plate in the inning as the Moo would take a 7-3 lead.
The Squatch would get a run back in the 4th. The Moo would respond with a run of their own in the 5th with Carter Schellsmidt (Marshalltown CC) driving in Tyler Wise (Kansas Wesleyan) to make it 8-4 Moo.

After a few scoreless innings, the Sasquatch would close the gap as they would bring home a run with an RBI in the 8th to make in 8-5, Moo still in front

The Moo would tack on one insurance run during the top of the 9th thanks to Nik Wede (MSU-Mankato) with a fielder’s choice to make it 9-5 Moo.

Tanner Jacobsen (Cloud County CC) would be called upon to finish the game on the mound. Throwing 3 innings of 1 run ball to secure the Moo victory, 9-5 in 9.

The Moo improve to a 3-2 record as they head to Pierre to start a two-game series with the Oahe Zap on May 31st. The Sasquatch drop to 2-6 and they’ll play the Nebraska Prospects starting on June 1st.
