Moo Recap: 5/27 - Fremont falls in opener as errors bite the Moo

The Fremont Moo opened their 2025 campaign with a Black Hills Battle against the Spearfish Sasquatch, with the Sasquatch taking the victory 10 to 9 in 9 innings. 6 errors
Black Hills Energy Stadium was a packed house for the home opener as William Furry (Capital U.) took the mound for the Sasquatch. Nikolai Wede (MSU-Mankato) watched the first delivery from Furry miss low and away and the Moo season had begun.
The offensive attack for Spearfish began in the bottom of the second. It was pair of errors, a pair of groundouts, and a passed ball that would see the Sasquatch push across 3 runs to go up at the end of the frame. The Moo answered back with a 3-run inning of their own, pushing across 3 in the top of the third. The Moo would take the lead in the top of the forth, when Josh Hardamon (Midland U.) would drive a double down the leftfield line to bring home Wede to give the Moo their first lead of the season, 4-3.
The back-and-forth affair would continue through the next four innings. The fifth would see the Spearfish tie with Owen Michaelson (UNC-Asheville) driving home a run to make it 4-4. The sixth would see the Sasquatch explode for four runs to take an 8 to 4 lead. The eighth would be the Moo's biggest inning. With the bases-loaded and two outs with two strikes against him, Michael Baker (Cal State-Chico) would have the Moo's biggest hit of the night, with a bases clearing, 3-RBI double to make it 9-8 Moo.
The lead wouldn't hold as the Moo would faulter once more in this one, with the tying run scoring on a passed ball and the winning run following not long after as an RBI single from Owen Michaelson would bring home Seth Nelson (Lewis and Clark St. Co) to bring the Sasquatch fans to their feet at the end of eight.
They wouldn't sit back down as Aidan Knowles (OK. Wesleyan) would slam the door shut to end the game, retiring the final three batters in order to secure the 10-9, topsy-turvy win to open the Moo schedule.
Zach Vincent (Midland U.) took the mound for the Moo. He would not allow a hit until the 4th inning, when Ben Feuer (Southwestern Uni.) would line a base hit into center. Vincent would go 5.0 innings, giving up 4 runs, 1 earned, on 3 hits and 4 walks, with 1 strikeout.
Joshua Hardamon (Midland U.) open his season with a fine night at the plate, going 2-4 with 3 RBI's, a double, and scored 2 runs. Michael baker (Cal State-Chico) would open his Moo summer with a 3-5 night, driving in 3-runs on his late double.
The Moo would have an unconventional looking score line, driving in 9 runs on 10 hits while committing 6 errors. The Sasquatch would score 10 runs on 8 hits with no errors to get the win.
Tomorrow's doubleheader will begin at 12:05, with the second game following at 7:05. Tune in on the Mixlr for Game 1, and the Big Dog 98.9 FM/1340 AM
