McPeak's Five-Hit Night, O'Gorman's Walk-Off Power Moo to 11-10 Win

FREMONT, Neb. - Fremont Moo opened a three-game series against the Salina Sliders on Saturday night with a nine-inning contest on Fireworks Night. The Moo walked it off in the bottom of the ninth for an 11-10 victory over the Sliders.
Giovanni Malatesta led off with a one-out single, and Carter McPeak drew a walk. A groundout by Easton Leahy brought home Malatesta to give the Moo an early 1-0 lead.
Salina tied the game with a solo home run in the second inning to make it 1-1 before taking the lead in the third by scoring two more runs.
Malatesta drew a one-out walk in the bottom of the third, and McPeak followed with a single to put two runners aboard. Leahy singled to right field to score Malatesta, and Eamon O'Gorman doubled to right field to bring home McPeak and tie the game, 3-3, at the end of the third.
The Moo regained the lead in the fifth as Malatesta led off with a double to left field, followed by another double from McPeak to score Malatesta and make it 4-3. Leahy followed with a single to put runners on the corners, and Matthew Marceau drew a walk to load the bases. Jacob Coshenet struck his bat for a double to left field, driving in Leahy and Marceau to extend the lead to 7-3.
Fremont kept the momentum rolling in the sixth as McPeak led off with a double to left field, and Leahy drew a walk to put two runners on with no outs. A flyout moved the runners to the corners before a fielder's choice allowed McPeak to score and make it 8-3. Harrison Hart struck his bat for a double to bring home Marceau and extend the lead to 9-3.
Salina began chipping away at the Moo's lead by scoring three runs in the top of the seventh to cut the deficit to 9-6.
Ripken Fleck led off the bottom of the seventh with a single before McPeak ripped his third double of the night to score Fleck and make it 10-6.
The Sliders continued their comeback by scoring three runs in the eighth and one in the ninth to tie the game, 10-10.
McPeak led off the bottom of the ninth with a single to right field, and Wyatt Throckmorton entered as a pinch runner. Evan Androvett singled to center field before O'Gorman stepped to the plate and delivered a walk-off single to center, scoring Throckmorton and giving the Moo an 11-10 victory. Fremont capped off the night by celebrating the win with a postgame fireworks show.
