Fremont Sweeps Oahe and Takes Series Win

Fremont, Nebraska - Rain stayed away Monday afternoon and the weather allowed the Fremont Moo and Oahe Zap to play a doubleheader, wrapping up a weekend wrap-around series at Historic Moller Field. After dropping the first game of the three game series, Saturday night, Fremont won both games in the ILB matchup, 9-2 and 7-0.


In game one, Fremont scored nine runs off eight hits and committed no errors. Oahe plated two runs off four hits with two errors. Fremont starting pitcher Kadyn Van Hll pitched six strong innings in the seven-inning format, to earn his first victory of the season. 


For one of the few times this season, Fremont got the scoring started, in the bottom of the first inning. Leadoff batter Miles Meadows doubled off Oahe starter Brady Glenn. Two batters later, Stephen Espinoza hit an rbi double, scoring Meadows, to put Fremont ahead, 1-0. The next batter, Tyrus Petsche singled, bringing Espinoza home, and Fremont took a 2-0 lead.


The Moo extended the lead in the bottom of the third. With two outs, Parker Mooney drew a walk and Wyatt Yetter doubled, to put runners on second and third. The next batter, Dylan Brandenburg, hit a two-rbi single, scoring Mooney and Yetter, and Fremont led 4-0.


Fremont put together its biggest offensive inning in the bottom of the sixth. The Moo sent nine batters to the plate and scored five runs. Brandenburg led off by reaching on a throwing error from Oahe third baseman Jackson Mix, then advanced to second on Zap reliever Julius Kass' wild pitch. Kass walked Isaac Bonner, then uncorked two more wild pitches, scoring Brandenburg. The next batter, Cole Fowler, delivered an rbi groundout to shortstop, plating Bonner, to put Fremont ahead, 6-0. Miles Meadows drew a walk off Oahe reliever Julius Kass. Jake Hutter, came on to relieve Kass. The first batter Hutter faced was Bridger Coleman, who hit an rbi double, scoring Meadows, to make it 7-0, Fremont. Stephen Espinoza kept the inning going when he reached on an error by Oahe second baseman Trey Martin. Coleman scored to make it an 8-0, Moo lead. Tyrus Petsche followed with an rbi double, scoring Espinoza, and Fremont led 9-0.


In the top of the seventh, Oahe got on the scoreboard. Against Fremont reliever Hayden Kelberlau, Oahe' s Tyler Hoffman doubled with one out. Leondra Guevara singled to put runners at first and third. Two batters later, Jacob Trusner doubled, scoring Hoffman and Guevara. However, Kelberlau got Brayden Byrum to ground out to shortstop to end the game, giving Fremont the game one victory, 9-2.


Kadyn Van HIll (1-1) earned the victory. The Omaha native at Wayne State College pitched 6.0 innings, giving up one hit, struck out six and walked one. Hayden Kelberlau, the Omaha native at Augustana, pitched 1.0 inning, giving up three hits and two runs.


Oahe's Brady Glenn (0-2) took the loss. He pitched 5.0 innings, giving up six hits, four runs, struck out two and walked one. Julius Kass pitched 0.1 innings, giving up three unearned runs, walked two and had four wild pitches. Jake Hutter pitched 0.2 innings, giving up two hits and two unearned runs.


Offensively, Fremont's Miles Meadows, a Solano Community College product from Fairfield, California, was 2-for-3. Bridger Coleman, from Allan Hancock College and Lompac, California, was 1-for-4 with an rbi. Stephen Espinoza, out of Charleston Southern University, and from Lompac, California, was 1-for-3 with a run batted in. Tyrus Petsche, a Lincoln native from Johnson County Community College, was 2-for-4 with a pair of rbi's. Dylan Brandenburg, from Skyline College and San Carlos, California, was 1-for-3 with two rbi's. Cole Fowler, out of Cerro Coso Community College, and Murrieta, California went 0-for-3, but drove in a run.


Oahe's Jacob Trusner was 1-for-2 with an rbi.


In game two, Fremont got the bats going in the middle innings, which sparked a 7-0 victory. Moo starter Robert O'Malley pitched four strong innings for the victory.


Fremont (6-2) scored seven runs off eleven hits and committed no errors. Oahe (2-8) had no runs off two hits and had no errors.


The Moo began the scoring in the bottom of the third inning. With one out, Tyrus Petsche doubled off Oahe starter Aiden Johnson, then advanced to third on a wild pitch. The next batter, Cooper Fuchino, grounded out to third, but scored Petsche, to put Fremont ahead, 1-0. 


In the fourth inning, Dean Reynolds led off with a walk against Zap reliever Garrett Bergman. Isaac Bonner doubled to put runners at second and third, before Trey Brooks drew a walk to load the bases. The next batter, Hunter Snyder, was hit by a Bergman 2-2 pitch, to bring in Reynolds, and make it 2-0, Fremont. The next batter, Josh Blount drew a walk, scoring Bonner, to make it a 3-0, Moo lead.


Fremont added two more runs in the fifth inning. Grant Nottleman singled off Oahe reliever Jacob Skinner. Dean Reynolds did the same, to put runners at first and second. After Isaac Bonner grounded out, advancing the runners to second and third, Trey Brooks hit a two-rbi single, scoring Nottleman and Reynolds, to put Fremont ahead, 5-0.


Like the previous two innings, Fremont scored two runs, this time in the bottom of the sixth. Josh Blount led off with a single. Then, two batters later, Cooper Fuchino hit Fremont's first home run of the season, a two-run blast over the left field fence, to put the Moo up, 7-0.


In the top of the seventh, Fremont reliever Logan Anderson struck out the first two batters before giving up a walk to Mason Lang and a single to Noah Wiggins. However, Anderson struck out Emiliano Curiel swinging on an 0-2 pitch to end the game, giving Fremont the 7-0 win, and the doubleheader sweep.


Fremont starter Robert O'Malley (1-0) earned the win. The Omaha native at Creighton University pitched 4.0 innings, giving up one hit, struck out seven and walked one. Baylor Hicks, a Columbia University product from Cumming, Georgia, pitched 2.0 innings, striking out one. Logan Anderson, the Omaha native at the University of Sioux Falls, pitched 1.0 inning, giving up one hit and struck out three.


Oahe's Aidan Johnson (0-1) took the loss. He pitched 3.0 innings, giving up five hits, one run and walked one. Garrett Bergman pitched 1.0 inning, giving up one hit, two runs, struck out two and walked three. Jacob Skinner pitched 1.2 innings, yielding five hits, four runs, and struck out two. Jake Hutter pitched 0.1 inning and hit one batter. 


Offensively, Fremont's Josh Blount was 2-for-3. The DePere, Wisconsin native at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi had two singles and an rbi. Cooper Fuchino, the Rolling Hills Estate, California native at Creighton University, was 2-for-4 with a two-run homerun and three rbi's. Isaac Bonner, the University of Sioux Falls product from Omaha, was 2-for-3 and Trey Brooks, the San Jose State Spartan from Encino, California was 2-for-2 with a pair of rbi's. Hunter Snyder, the Saint John, Indiana native at Columbia University, was 0-for-2, but drove in one run.


Oahe left Fremont dropping two of the three games in the series and the Zap will host the Nebraska Prospects on Wednesday.


Fremont will have Tuesday and Wednesday off before they open up a four-game series with the Spearfish Sasquatch, beginning Thursday night. Game one of the series and the fourth game of Fremont's 13-game homestand, will begin at 7:05 p.m.

FREMONT, Neb. – Fremont Moo continued its four-game series against the Sedalia Steamers on Fireworks Friday. Behind a dominant pitching performance from Wyatt Henry and a powerful offensive attack, the Moo rolled to an 11-1 run-rule victory in eight innings. After a scoreless first inning, the Moo bats came alive in the second. Kye Privett led off with a single up the middle, and Nate Wachter followed with a walk. Jacob Coshenet then blasted a three-run homer to left field to give the Moo an early 3-0 lead. Eamon O'Gorman kept the inning going with a double to left before Giovanni Malatesta singled up the middle to put runners on the corners. Carter McPeak followed with a single, and a fielding error allowed him to advance to second while O'Gorman and Malatesta scored, extending the lead to 5-0. The Moo added another run in the third as Privett drew a leadoff walk and Wachter was hit by a pitch. A wild pitch advanced both runners before O'Gorman lifted a sacrifice fly to score Privett and make it 6-0. Sedalia scored its lone run of the game in the fourth on back-to-back doubles. After two quiet innings, the Moo regained the momentum in the seventh. Malatesta led off with a single to left before McPeak launched a two-run homer to left, extending the lead to 8-1. Coshenet, O'Gorman and Malatesta opened the eighth with three consecutive singles to load the bases. A one-out double by McPeak scored Coshenet and O'Gorman, while McPeak advanced to third on the throw home. Brayden Mitchell followed with an RBI single to left to score McPeak and give the Moo the 11-1 run-rule victory in eight innings. Henry earned the win with a dominant outing, allowing one run on six hits over seven innings while walking three and striking out five. FREMONT, Neb. – Fremont Moo opened a four-game series against the Sedalia Steamers on Thursday night at Moller Field. Sedalia's offense proved too much as the Steamers handed the Moo a 6-1 loss. The Steamers struck first with two runs in the first inning, added one in the second and scored two more in the fourth to build a 5-0 lead. The Moo scored their lone run of the game in the eighth inning as Matthew Marceau and Giovanni Malatesta led off with back-to-back singles. A groundout brought Marceau home to put Fremont on the board and cut the deficit to 5-1.  Sedalia added an insurance run in the ninth and held the Moo scoreless in the bottom half of the inning to secure the 6-1 victory. Fremont (20-20) continues the series against Sedalia on Friday, July 24, for Fireworks Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

FREMONT, Neb. – Fremont Moo wrapped up its two-game series against the Grand Island Fightin' Cranes on Wednesday night at Moller Field. Grand Island's offensive surge doomed the Moo to a 21-3 run-rule loss.  Grand Island got on the board first, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. Carter McPeak led off the bottom of the first with a two-out double to right field to get things started for the Moo. Easton Leahy followed with a single to bring McPeak home, cutting the deficit to 2-1. After a scoreless second inning for both teams, the Fightin' Cranes broke through with back-to-back big innings, scoring seven runs in the third and five more in the fourth to build a commanding 14-1 lead. Grand Island continued to swing the bats in the sixth, adding three runs to extend its lead to 17-1. The Moo snapped a four-inning scoreless drought in the bottom of the sixth. McPeak hit a one-out double before Leahy was hit by a pitch to put two runners aboard. Eamon O'Gorman singled to center field to score McPeak and put runners on the corners. O'Gorman then stole second, and Leahy scored on a Grand Island error to cut the deficit to 17-3. Grand Island added four more runs in the seventh to extend its lead to 21-3. The Fightin' Cranes then held the Moo scoreless in the bottom half of the inning to secure the 21-3 run-rule victory. Fremont Moo (21-19) will continue its homestand with a four-game series against the Sedalia Steamers. The series opens Thursday for Most Valuable Mom's Day.

FREMONT, Neb. – The Fremont Moo returned home to host a two-game series against the Grand Island Fightin' Cranes. The series opened Tuesday night with a wild back-and-forth contest that kept fans on the edge of their seats before a late Grand Island rally in the ninth inning handed the Moo a tough 14-11 loss.  Ripken Fleck, Carter McPeak and Burke Jasa each drew a one-out walk to start the first inning. A groundout advanced the runners, allowing Fleck to score and give the Moo an early 1-0 lead. The Moo heated up in the second as Wyatt Throckmorton led off with a walk, followed by a single from Matthew Marceau to put runners on the corners. Marceau then stole second base. Easton Mitchell, making his debut for the Moo, ripped a single off the left-field fence to score Marceau and Throckmorton. Fleck kept the inning alive with a line-drive single before Giovanni Malatesta reached on a fielder's choice to put runners on the corners once again. A wild pitch allowed Mitchell to score, and another single by McPeak to center field brought home Malatesta. Jasa then drew a walk before Eamon O'Gorman singled to load the bases. Nate Wachter, making his 2026 debut after playing for the Moo in 2025, singled to left field to score McPeak and keep the bases loaded. A sacrifice fly by Throckmorton brought home Jasa as the Moo built a 6-0 lead. The Fightin' Cranes snapped their scoreless streak with one run in the third and added three more in the fifth to cut the deficit to 6-4. Fremont answered in the bottom of the fifth as Malatesta led off with a single. McPeak and Jasa followed with back-to-back walks to load the bases. O'Gorman lined a single to right field to score McPeak and Malatesta. Wachter then drew a walk to reload the bases before Throckmorton drew another walk to force in Jasa and extend the Moo lead to 10-4. The Cranes responded with a seven-run sixth inning to take an 11-10 lead. Marceau drew a one-out walk to begin the eighth and promptly stole second. With two outs, he attempted to steal third and found himself in a rundown. Marceau escaped the pickle, and a throwing error by the Cranes left home plate uncovered, allowing him to race home and score the tying run. The heads-up play knotted the game at 11-11 and energized the Moller Field crowd. Grand Island answered in the ninth with three runs to reclaim a 14-11 advantage. The Cranes then held the Moo scoreless in the bottom of the inning to secure the victory. JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Fremont Moo wrapped up its trip to Jefferson City, Missouri, with a nine-inning contest on Sunday afternoon. The Moo used an early offensive surge and strong pitching to defeat the Renegades, 7-5. After two scoreless innings, the Moo offense broke through in the third. Giovanni Malatesta led off with a two-out single before Carter McPeak doubled to left field to score Malatesta. Easton Leahy drew a walk, and Eamon O'Gorman singled to load the bases. Burke Jasa then stepped to the plate and crushed a ball to right field for a grand slam, giving the Moo a 5-0 lead. The Moo stayed hot in the fourth as Malatesta was hit by a pitch to put a runner aboard. McPeak stepped to the plate and hammered a two-run home run to center field, extending the lead to 7-0. The Renegades broke through in the fifth inning and added more runs in the seventh, scoring five unanswered to cut the deficit to 7-5. Wyatt Henry shut down the Renegades over the final innings to secure the hard-fought victory as the Moo claimed the series finale, 7-5. Matthew Marceau earned the win after pitching 5.0 innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out four. JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Fremont Moo continued their series against the Jefferson City Renegades on Saturday evening. A pitchers' duel between the two teams kept the game close until a late-inning surge by the Renegades handed the Moo a 5-1 loss. Jefferson City struck first, scoring one run in the second inning before adding another in the fifth to take a 2-0 lead. The Moo broke through in the seventh inning. Wyatt Throckmorton drew a one-out walk and stole second base. With two outs, Stradeer Richardson was hit by a pitch before Tyler Schroeder singled to left field, driving in Throckmorton to cut the deficit to 2-1. The Renegades responded in the bottom of the eighth, stringing together several consecutive hits to score three insurance runs and extend their lead to 5-1. Fremont attempted to rally in the ninth but was unable to capitalize, falling 5-1. JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Fremont Moo opened a three-game series against the Jefferson City Renegades in their first meeting of the season Friday night. The Moo fell in a close contest, 6-5, on a walk-off by the Renegades. After a scoreless first inning, Jefferson City got on the board in the second, plating a run to take an early 1-0 lead. The Moo responded in the third as Ripken Fleck laced a two-out double to put a runner in scoring position. Fleck later scored on a Renegades error to tie the game at 1-1. Jefferson City regained the lead with one run in both the third and fifth innings to make it 3-1. Fremont answered in the sixth. Eamon O'Gorman led off by drawing a walk before Carter McPeak singled to center field to put two runners aboard. Easton Leahy followed with a walk to load the bases. Matthew Marceau and Burke Jasa then drew back-to-back bases-loaded walks to bring home two runs and tie the game at 3-3. The Renegades responded with another run in the bottom of the sixth to reclaim a 4-3 advantage. The Moo battled back in the seventh as O'Gorman drew another walk before Brayden Mitchell launched a two-run home run over the left-field fence to give Fremont its first lead of the night at 5-4. Jefferson City had the final answer in the bottom of the ninth. Two consecutive singles, followed by a wild pitch and a throwing error on the Moo, put the tying run in scoring position before the Renegades scored twice to secure the 6-5 walk-off victory. SALINA, Kan. – Fremont Moo wrapped up its three-game series in Salina, Kansas, by cruising past the Salina Sliders in the finale with a 16-5, seven-inning run-rule victory.  After a scoreless first inning, the Moo got on the board in the second. Brayden Mitchell drew a one-out walk to get things started before Jacob Coshenet ripped a two-out double to score Mitchell and give the Moo a 1-0 lead at the end of the inning. The Moo broke the game open in the third. Ripken Fleck, Giovanni Malatesta and Eamon O'Gorman drew three consecutive walks to load the bases. Easton Leahy laced a double to left field to score Fleck and Malatesta. Coshenet then crushed a three-run home run over the left-field fence to extend the lead to 6-0. Matthew Marceau reached on an error, and Tyler Schroeder followed with a two-out RBI single to make it 7-0. Salina answered with a two-run home run in the bottom of the third and added another run in the fourth to cut the deficit to 7-3. Mitchell led off the fifth with a single. Two wild pitches allowed him to advance to third before Strader Richardson drove him home with a groundout. Coshenet stepped to the plate and launched his second home run of the night over the left-field fence, extending the lead to 9-3. The Sliders chipped away in the sixth, scoring two runs to trim the deficit to 9-5. Malatesta led off the seventh with a double before O'Gorman singled down the right-field line to score him. Leahy followed with a single, and Richardson reached on a fielder's choice. Coshenet and Marceau drew back-to-back walks to load the bases, forcing in Leahy to make it 11-5. Schroeder kept the inning alive with a two-out single to center field, driving in Coshenet and Richardson to extend the lead to 13-5. Malatesta was hit by a pitch to begin the seventh before O'Gorman singled to put two runners aboard. Leahy lifted a sacrifice fly to score Malatesta and make it 14-5. Mitchell drew a walk to put runners on the corners, and Richardson doubled to center field to score O'Gorman and Mitchell, pushing the lead to 16-5. The Moo retired the Sliders in the bottom of the seventh to secure the 16-5 run-rule victory and complete the three-game series sweep. Wyatt Throckmorton earned the win after allowing five earned runs on six innings while striking out three. SALINA, Kan. – Fremont Moo continued its three-game series against the Salina Sliders on Wednesday night, cruising to an 11-3 victory. Brayden Mitchell kept the rally alive with a single to right field, driving in Coshenet and Marceau to give the Moo a 2-0 lead. Salina tied the game in the third, scoring two runs to even the score at 2-2. Coshenet led off the fourth with a single, and Marceau reached on a fielder's choice. Mitchell singled to put runners on the corners before a groundout allowed Marceau to score. Giovanni Malatesta followed with a single to bring home Mitchell and give the Moo a 4-2 lead. The Moo extended its lead in the fifth as Strader Richardson led off with a one-out single up the middle. Coshenet followed with a single to put two runners aboard. Marceau delivered the third consecutive single of the inning to score Richardson, and Mitchell added another RBI single to bring home Coshenet, making it a 6-2 game. After a scoreless sixth inning, the Moo broke the game open in the seventh. Coshenet, Mitchell and Ripken Fleck drew three consecutive walks to load the bases before Malatesta crushed a grand slam to left field, extending the lead to 10-2. Salina added its final run in the bottom of the seventh to make it 10-3. Fleck led off the ninth with a single to left field, and Malatesta was hit by a pitch before Carter McPeak drew a walk to load the bases. Eamon O'Gorman then drew a bases-loaded walk to score Fleck and cap the scoring at 11-3. Cody Bruss earned the win after tossing 8.1 innings, allowing two earned runs on the night while striking out three. SALINA, Kan. – Fremont Moo traveled to Salina, Kansas, for the opening game of a three-game series against the Salina Sliders on Tuesday night. The Moo surged ahead early to earn a 14-9 victory. Fremont put six runs on the board in the first inning. Giovanni Malatesta reached on a one-out error by the Sliders, and a groundout advanced him to second. Easton Leahy drew a walk before Eamon O'Gorman doubled to center field with two outs, driving in Malatesta and Leahy. Burke Jasa followed with a walk to keep the inning alive. Wyatt Throckmorton singled to center to score O'Gorman, and Matthew Marceau was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Ripken Fleck then singled to center, driving in Throckmorton to give the Moo a 6-0 lead. Salina answered with two runs in the bottom of the first to cut the deficit to 6-2. Carter McPeak led off the second with a single to left field. O'Gorman and Jasa each drew a walk to load the bases with one out. Throckmorton drew a bases-loaded walk to score McPeak, and Marceau was hit by a pitch to force in O'Gorman, extending the Moo's lead to 8-2. The Sliders answered with three runs in the bottom of the second to cut the lead to 8-5. Malatesta led off the third with a single to left before McPeak doubled, moving Malatesta to third. Leahy drew a walk to load the bases. Jasa drew another walk to score Malatesta, and Throckmorton's sacrifice fly brought home McPeak to extend the lead to 10-5. The Moo continued to rally in the fourth. Tyler Schroeder led off with a double before Fleck was hit by a pitch and Malatesta drew a walk to load the bases. A groundout scored Schroeder to make it 11-5. O'Gorman was then hit by a pitch to load the bases once again, and Jasa drew his fourth walk of the night to score Fleck and make it 12-5. Salina added a run in the fifth to trim the lead to 12-6. Jasa singled with one out in the seventh before Marceau doubled to right field, driving him home. Schroeder drew a walk, and Fleck singled to right to score Marceau, extending the Moo's lead to 14-6. The Sliders mounted a late rally in the ninth, scoring three runs, but the Moo closed out the game to secure the 14-9 victory.
