It is the worst start in club history at a 3-8 record. Doubleheader Duty The Moo will face the Hastings Sodbusters in a game rescheduled from Tuesday, June 3rd. That will start at 4:05 with the originally scheduled Saturday game versus the Nebraska Prospects to follow at 7:05. Hot and Cold The Sodbusters enter with a perfect 8-0 record to begin the season. The Moo currently hold the longest losing streak in the ILB having dropped the last six (6). However, the Sodbusters have not won in Fremont since July 29th, 2022. He continues to be a loud bat in an otherwise quiet lineup. #2 - JAKE MITCHELL (B/T: R/L) Mitchell has turned it around at the plate during the homestand. Broc Songster (Doane) would take the mound, opposite of Evan Luke and the two would straight deal in the contest. Songster, an impressive six (6.0) innings, giving up three (3) hits while striking out a team-high nine (9) opposing batters. Luke would match with six (6.0) shutout innings with three (3) strikeouts. The lone bit of offense would come with an RBI double in the second inning for the Sasquatch. They would later strike for a single run in the eighth. It would be the only bit of offense for either team as the Sasquatch bullpen would compliment Luke’s start by shutting down the Moo bats. The Moo showed up to the ballpark and gazed upon a damp Moller Field looking to secure a much-needed win to right the ship. What ensued was a turbulent, 11-inning affair that would end in extras. Carter Schellsmidt (Valparaiso) would start this game, with a bang. A Schellsmidt shot over the wall would give the Moo an immediate 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Rhyn Chambers would struggle to find the zone as the Moo would put two more on the board following the homer to make it 3-0 Moo at the end of one. The following inning would see the Moo strike for four runs.A wild pitch and a walk would score the first two, but with the bases loaded Joshua Hardamon (Midland) would deal the biggest blow. A two-RBI single that clanged off the Moller Monster in left to bring home Cooper Fuchino (Creighton) and Brinden Floyd (RCSJ). The scoreboard read 7-0 at the end of two as the Moo looked to rely on a strong start from Luca Dickinson (Skyline). Dickinson would produce his finest outing of the early season going 6.0 innings, allowing two (2) runs to score (only one earned), on seven (7) hits while striking out two (2) batters. The Moo would look to the Creighton Blue Jay, Cooper Fuchino, for some offense. A fifth-inning, RBI double would put the Moo’s eighth and final run of the game on the board. Slowly, the Sasquatch started scoring. A run in the fourth…a run in the sixth…FIVE runs in the seventh…and a tying run in the ninth to send it to extras. Extras would see the Sasquatch take the lead on a Chase Scott single to bring home what would be the winning run. The bottom of the 11th would see a sac bunt move Preston Gajewski (NOC-Tonkawa) to third. The suicide squeeze was on as Jake Mitchell’s bunt proved ineffective as Gajewski would be thrown out at the plate. A batter later, Mitchell would try to take second and be thrown out to end the game. The Sasquatch came back to pick up their fifth win of the season. The final line saw the Moo score eight (8) runs on six (6) hits and committed one (1) errors. The Sasquatch scored nine (9) runs on fourteen (14) hits while committing two (2) error. The solo home run came off of William Furry in the 3rd inning. Auf Wiedersehen, Schlagmänner Luca Dickinson (Skyline) takes the mound tonight, making his second start against Spearfish this season. Last time out, Dickinson worked 5.0 innings, giving up one (1) earned run, on two (2) hits, and a walk, while striking out four (4) batters in the win. The Moo were back at home for the first time in the 2025 season. They looked toward the stands to provide the energy as the team looked to reward them with a win in return. A familiar foe in the Spearfish Sasquatch made the trip down to Fremont after hosting the Moo for five games The scoring started early for the Moo. Two runs would score in the bottom of the first off of William Furry. Michael Baker (Cal State-Chico) would drive in a run and Nikolai Wede (MSU-Mankato) would hit a sac fly to left to make it 2-0 Moo at the end of the first. The Sasquatch would ambush Brooks Kneifl (Wayne State) with three doubles, all scoring runs, four in total to put the Sasquatch in front. They would push across one more on a hit-by-pitch in the third to make it 5-2 Spearfish. Michael Baker would strike again in a big way. A solo home run (his and the team's) first of the season would bring the Moller Maniacs to their feet as the Moo hoped it would kickstart a comeback. The Moo trailed 5-3 at the end of the third. The scoreboard would sit at 5-3 Spearfish for the next four innings. The seventh would see the Sasquatch put across a run on an error on Grant Rychnovsky (Northwestern) out in left field. The ninth would see Spearfish push across a run on a double steal. It was 7-3 Spearfish in the bottom of the ninth. With two outs, Jake Mitchell would reach base after being hit by a pitch. He would take second on a passed ball to put him in scoring position. Preston Gajewski (NOC-Tonkawa) would hit a grounder to second and an errant throw would allow Mitchell to score to make it 7-4 in the 9th. That’s all the Moo could muster in the 9th as the Moo would fall 7-4 and lose their fourth straight. The final line saw the Moo score four (4) runs on seven (7) hits and committed five (5) errors.
