Yanke Tosses Five Scoreless Innings as Moo Down Sliders on Fourth of July

FREMONT, Neb. – Fremont Moo hosted Salina Sliders for one nine-inning game on the Fourth of July after the previous night's game was rained out. The Moo earned a 7-3 victory behind five scoreless innings from Jackson Yanke.
Ripken Fleck led off with a single down the line, while Carter McPeak was hit by a pitch with two outs. McPeak stole second before Easton Leahy singled to right field to drive him home, giving the Moo a 1-0 lead at the end of the first inning.
After a scoreless second inning, Giovanni Malatesta got the Moo started in the third with a two-out single to left field. McPeak followed with a single of his own to put two runners aboard. Leahy kept the rally going with his third consecutive hit of the inning, driving in Malatesta to make it 2-0. Jacob Coshenet followed with a single to right field to score McPeak, capping a two-out rally and extending the lead to 3-0 at the end of the third.
After a scoreless fourth inning, Leahy and Burke Jasa opened the fifth by drawing walks. Jasa and Leahy each stole a base, and Leahy later scored on a Salina fielding error to extend the lead to 4-0.
Salina got on the board in the sixth with two runs before adding another in the seventh to cut the deficit to 4-3.
Coshenet led off the bottom of the seventh by drawing a walk, and Jasa followed with a single to right field to put two runners on. Eamon O'Gorman delivered a base-clearing double to score Jasa and Coshenet, pushing the lead back to 6-3. O'Gorman then stole third and scored on another throwing error to give the Moo an insurance run and a 7-3 advantage.
Daren Safranski closed out the game as the Moo secured the 7-3 victory over the Sliders.
Yanke earned the win, allowing just three hits over 5.0 scoreless innings while striking out four.
