The Moo used an early offensive surge and strong pitching to defeat the Renegades, 7-5. After two scoreless innings, the Moo offense broke through in the third. Giovanni Malatesta led off with a two-out single before Carter McPeak doubled to left field to score Malatesta. Easton Leahy drew a walk, and Eamon O'Gorman singled to load the bases. SEDALIA, Mo. – Fremont Moo wrapped up its two-game series against the Sedalia Steamers on Thursday night. The Moo jumped out to an early lead but fell, 11-2. The game carried special meaning as both teams participated in Strike Out Cancer Night. During the seventh inning, players held "Today, I Honor" signs while cancer survivors and those currently battling cancer walked the bases. Ripken Fleck led off the first inning with a single to center field, and a groundout advanced him to second. Fleck stole third, and a throwing error by the Steamers allowed him to score, giving the Moo an early 1-0 lead. Sedalia answered in the bottom of the first with a solo home run to tie the game, 1-1. The Steamers took control in the third inning, scoring three runs to build a 4-1 lead. They added four more runs in the fifth to extend their advantage to 8-1. The Moo scored its second run in the sixth inning as Tyler Schroeder and Dominic Palma opened the frame with back-to-back singles. Ripken Fleck followed with a walk to load the bases, and Schroeder scored on a fielder's choice to cut the deficit to 8-2. The Steamers added three more runs in the seventh inning to extend the lead to 11-2. The Moo was unable to rally, dropping the series finale by that score.  Fremont (13-15) will have an off day before returning home to host the Salina Sliders in a three-game series. First pitch for Friday's opener is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Fireworks Saturday festivities will follow the series opener.
