The Spuds left fielder, Sean Glatts would rip a single to right to bring home the first run of the game in the second inning. The Moo would answer in back-to-back innings in the third and fourth innings. Joshua Hardamon (Midland) would walk home Henry Hayman (Akron) to tie the ballgame at one apiece. The fourth would see the Moo take the lead on a Henry Hayman single to drive home Grant Ryan (Northwest CC) to make it 2-1 Moo.Kneifl’s night would conclude after the fifth, but two runs would cross the plate before he would leave. Kody Clausius would fist a single into left to bring home the two runs to give the Spuds a 3-2 lead. Aiden McGrath (Skyline) would relieve Kniefl in the sixth and defensive errors would cost him two runs. An error on Grant Ryan at short would allow two runs to score to make it 5-2 Spuds, going to the bottom of the inning where the Moo would strike big offensively. Seven runs in total, thanks to Tanner Jacobsen (Cloud County) with a two-RBI double to get it started. A single from Tyman Long (North Dakota State) would plate the tying run making it 5-5. Seve Aguirre (Southeastern Oklahoma State) would get plunked with the bases loaded to give the Moo a one-run lead. Two more would score one bases-loaded walk, and a single from Rocco Geritano (Southern Union State CC) would see the Moo up 9-5, going into the seventh. The Spuds struck back in the top of the seventh, putting across six runs in the inning to retake the lead. Eli Larson (Sioux Falls) would give up one earned run, with six crossing in total because of Moo errors. He would collect two outs before being pulled for Brayden Gum (Missouri State). Gum’s debut would see him walk three batters, but no runs that crossed would be charged against him as he would get the out to end the Spuds seventh. The scoreboard read 11-9, with Casper ahead. The Moo’s defensive woes would continue in the eighth as two more errors would cost Joe Hauser (Creighton) three runs to make it 14-9 Casper. The bottom of the inning would see Rocco collect his third hit of the night and bring home a run. Then, Jacobsen would sacrifice himself to bring home Nate Wachter (South Dakota State). Hayman would dig in and drive home Grant Ryan to pull the Moo within two runs of a tie. Nick Kaumbulu would enter with two outs and two on as he would face Cooper Fuchino (Creighton). He would get Fuchino to roll over and end the threat in the 8th. The scoreboard would read 14-12 at the end of the eighth. Drew Gilbert (Menlo) would enter in the ninth and walk the bases loaded. Gilbert’s struggles on the mound would continue as he would walk home two runs before making way for Caiden Brezinski (Butler). Brezinski would strike out his first batter before walking home a run that would be attributed to Gilbert, making it 17-12. The next pitch from Brezinski would be lined into left, scoring two more for the Spuds. Brezinski would manage out of the ninth with a strikeout, the scoreboard reading 19-12. The Moo would go quietly in the bottom half to end the four-hour game 19-12, in favor of the Spuds. The final line saw the Moo score twelve (12) runs on eleven (11) hits and commit nine (9) errors. The Spuds scored nineteen (19) runs on nine (9) hits and had one (1) error defensively. Hunter Billingsley picks up the win for the Spuds, and Eli Larson gets handed the loss. Wesley Cunningham was immaculate in this one, guiding the Moo to a 2-1 victory over the Spuds. The Monday night contest began what would become a fifteen-game in fifteen-day marathon for the Moo. The eyes are on getting back to a .500 winning percentage, still in sight, and the second-half crown is still up for grabs. Wes Cunningham (Southern Arkansas) got the start for the Moo, working through a clean first while the Moo batts would go silently. Cunningham would allow a run to score in the second. Sean Glatts would get thrown out trying to steal second base, allowing Kaeden Wilcox to steal home in front of him. It would give the Spuds a 1-0 lead. It would be the only run the Spuds would put across against Cunningham. The Hotstepper would carve through seven innings, striking out eleven Spuds without giving up a walk in this one. His most impressive feat came in the top of the seventh, where Cunningham struck out all three batters he faced on nine pitches—an immaculate inning. The Moo bats would strike in the fifth inning. Grant Ryan (Northwest CC) would reach to begin the inning. Caiden Brezinski (Butler) would line a ball sharply at the Spud shortstop. Hank Harp wouldn’t corral the line drive and it would sneak through, allowing Ryan to go first to third. Tanner Jacobsen (Cloud County) would dig in and single home Ryan to tie the ballgame at one. After Henry Hayman (Akron) would fly out for the first out of the inning, Cooper Fuchino (Creighton) would double home Caiden Brezinski to give the Moo a 2-1 lead. It is all that they would strike for in the inning, as the 2-1 score would hold through the end of the contest. Chase Nelson (St. Thomas) would shut down the Spuds to secure the Moo’s fifth win of the second half. The final line saw the Moo score two (2) runs on seven (7) hits and commit no errors. It was his second home run of the season now tying him with Michael Baker (Cal State-Chico) and Cooper Fuchino (Creighton) with two home runs this season. Spuds Problem The Moo will face the Spuds tonight to begin a three-game series. The Moo are 2-0 all-time during the regular season. The Spuds are 8-15 all-time versus the Moo in the ILB and the ILBCS. Rain doesn’t hamper either team's bats as Joshua Hardamon’s walk-off Grand Slam seals the Moo’s fourth victory of the second half. Game one started almost two hours after the initial start time due to a sudden rain shower that delayed the game. When game one began, Broc Songster (Doane) would take the mound for the Moo. He would struggle to find the strike zone and walk the first three batters, and it wouldn’t get better after that. Four runners would score on one hit as nine Prospects would come to the plate. The Moo would not be able to put across any runs, and it would be 4-0 Prospects until the second, when the Prospects would push across a fifth run to make it 5-0 Prospects by the end of the second. The third inning would see the Prospects put across four more runs to make it 9-0 Prospects. Then the rain came through once more, postponing the game for a little over two hours. The doubleheader would be rescheduled to a one-seven-inning contest. The bottom of the third would see the Moo bats come alive for a three-run inning. Cooper Fuchino (Creighton) would double home two, and Tyman Long (North Dakota State) would single home another to make it 9-3, Moo still behind. The fourth would see Tyler Wise (Kansas Wesleyan) take the mound and shut down the Prospects in the top of the fourth. The Moo comeback would continue with Fuchino once again bringing home a run while being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and Grant Ryan (Northeast CC) would bring home another run on a single. The Moo had struck for two to make it 9-5, going to the fifth. A Prospect flyout and walk would bring home two to put the Prospects up by five once more. The Moo would answer back with an RBI double from Tanner Jacobsen (Cloud County), an RBI single from Henry Hayman (Akron), and a monstrous two-run home run from Fuchino to make it 11-10 at the end of the fifth, the Moo still behind. Joe Hauser (Creighton) would relieve Wise with the bases loaded and one out in the sixth. Hauser would work around a few batters, giving up two walks that would score two runs, and allowing a sac fly to bring home another to make it 14-10, Prospects. The Moo would go scoreless in the sixth and the Prospects in the top of the seventh, keeping the score at 14-10 in the Prospects' favor going to the bottom of the seventh. The bases would be loaded for Grant Ryan. His patient approach would bring home a run to make it 14-11 with the tying run at the plate being The Hammer. Joshua “The Hammer” Hardamon (Midland) would rocket a laser over the left-center wall to hit the team's first walk-off home run of the season, a grand slam. The Moo won 15-14 in seven innings. A couple of delays would hinder the Moo as the Sodbusters walk-off the Moo for the second time this season. The Fourth of July battle saw the Fremont Moo make the day trip down to Hastings to face the Sodbusters. Fremont would start with Zach Vincent (Midland), someone with great success at Duncan Field. Opposite of him was Creighton Jacobwitz. The top of the first would see the Moo put two on before a short rain delay in the action. When it subsided, the Moo would load the bases on a walk. Seve Aguirre (Southeastern Oklahoma State) would have his RBI hit stolen by Luke Caussey with a diving catch in right field to end the Moo threat. The rain would continue and contribute to the Sodbusters' four runs off of Vincent in the bottom of the first. Luke Caussey would highlight the inning with an RBI triple to make it 4-0 Busters at the end of the opening frame. Another rain delay would put the game on pause for an hour before resuming in the bottom of the second. The two offenses remained quiet through the two innings until the Moo batted around and tied it at four in the fifth. Tyman Long (North Dakota State) would score on a Henry Hayman (Akron) double that hit off the base of the wall at Duncan Field, putting the Moo on the board. Hayman scored on a single from Preston Gajewski (NOC-Tonkawa) to cut the lead in half. A slow rollover to Graham Hylton was seemingly the end of the Moo fifth. But a wild throw to the covering Braden Cork would bring home both Luke Saxton (Missouri-St. Louis) and Gajewski to even it up at 4. The Sodbusters would push across one run in the bottom of the fifth, as Tyman Long would misread a ball in right, allowing Drew Vega to score. The sixth would see a passed ball bring home Brock Cross to give the Sodbusters a 6-4 lead at the end of the sixth Fremont would draw even in the score in the top of the seventh. Gajewski would reach on a hit, and Tanner Jacobsen (Cloud County) would reach on a walk. Caiden Brezinski (Butler) would make the second out of the inning but move both runners into scoring position. Cooper Fuchino (Creighton) would single home both runners to tie the game, 6-6. Preston Gajewski would record his third hit of the game to lead off the ninth. He would make his way to second on a stolen base. With two away, Fuchino would dig in and hit a liner to right. Off the bat, it looked to be the go-ahead hit, but once again Luke Caussey would rob the Moo of runs with another spectacular diving grab. It kept the game at 6-6, going to the bottom half of the inning. This one would go to the extras to decide a winner. To Moo would go quietly in the top of the inning. Joe Hauser (Creighton) would relieve Eli Larson (Sioux Falls). With one out and the bases loaded, the lights at Duncan Field went out. Another delay would ensue, and when it came back on, Graham Hylton would go from a 0-2 count to walking home the winning run. 7-6 Sodbusters in 10 innings. The Moo dropped game two of the series against the Prospects 6-2 on Wednesday night. Moller Field was the site for the final game of the two-game series against the Nebraska Prospects. The Moo entered the contest with the best record in the second half at 3-1 and looked to continue the good start. Logan Anderson (Sioux Falls) would return to Moller Field, and the Prospects would welcome him back with swinging bats. Three hits against Anderson, the biggest being a two-run shot from Mike Valdivia to cap off a 3-0 lead before the Moo could bat. The Moo would strand runners on the corners in the bottom half and would come up empty in the first. Anderson would work an easy second, striking out two and not allowing a base runner to reach. The same would go for the Moo in the bottom of the second as Isaac Bourges would strike out two. Anderson would begin to settle in during the third as he would rack up two more strikeouts, upping his total to six.. He would finish five innings with eleven total strikeouts. The Prospects would go scoreless during the third and the fifth. The Moo would push across a run in the fourth. Preston Gajewski (NOC-Tonkawa) would plate a run because of his hustle, causing a wild throw to first to break up a would-be double play. Brayden Jones (Doane) would scramble home in the chaos to make it 3-1. The Prospects would answer with two runs in the fifth and a lone run in the sixth to make it 6-1 Prospects. The culprit causing trouble for the Moo offensive woes would come from the right arm of Gil Schroeder. Schroeder would throw four and a third innings, allowing one run (after he was removed in the ninth) and struck out three batters. The Moo’s last bit of offense would come in the ninth. Grant Rychnovsky (Northwestern-IA) would sacrifice himself on a long fly ball to bring home Nate Wachter (South Dakota State) to make it 6-2. The next batter, Brayden Jones, would ground out to end the ballgame with a final score of 6-2 in favor of the Prospects.
