A couple of delays would hinder the Moo as the Sodbusters walk-off the Moo for the second time this season. The Fourth of July battle saw the Fremont Moo make the day trip down to Hastings to face the Sodbusters. Fremont would start with Zach Vincent (Midland), someone with great success at Duncan Field. Opposite of him was Creighton Jacobwitz. The top of the first would see the Moo put two on before a short rain delay in the action. When it subsided, the Moo would load the bases on a walk. Seve Aguirre (Southeastern Oklahoma State) would have his RBI hit stolen by Luke Caussey with a diving catch in right field to end the Moo threat. The rain would continue and contribute to the Sodbusters' four runs off of Vincent in the bottom of the first. Luke Caussey would highlight the inning with an RBI triple to make it 4-0 Busters at the end of the opening frame. Another rain delay would put the game on pause for an hour before resuming in the bottom of the second. The two offenses remained quiet through the two innings until the Moo batted around and tied it at four in the fifth. Tyman Long (North Dakota State) would score on a Henry Hayman (Akron) double that hit off the base of the wall at Duncan Field, putting the Moo on the board. Hayman scored on a single from Preston Gajewski (NOC-Tonkawa) to cut the lead in half. A slow rollover to Graham Hylton was seemingly the end of the Moo fifth. But a wild throw to the covering Braden Cork would bring home both Luke Saxton (Missouri-St. Louis) and Gajewski to even it up at 4. The Sodbusters would push across one run in the bottom of the fifth, as Tyman Long would misread a ball in right, allowing Drew Vega to score. The sixth would see a passed ball bring home Brock Cross to give the Sodbusters a 6-4 lead at the end of the sixth Fremont would draw even in the score in the top of the seventh. Gajewski would reach on a hit, and Tanner Jacobsen (Cloud County) would reach on a walk. Caiden Brezinski (Butler) would make the second out of the inning but move both runners into scoring position. Cooper Fuchino (Creighton) would single home both runners to tie the game, 6-6. Preston Gajewski would record his third hit of the game to lead off the ninth. He would make his way to second on a stolen base. With two away, Fuchino would dig in and hit a liner to right. Off the bat, it looked to be the go-ahead hit, but once again Luke Caussey would rob the Moo of runs with another spectacular diving grab. It kept the game at 6-6, going to the bottom half of the inning. This one would go to the extras to decide a winner. To Moo would go quietly in the top of the inning. Joe Hauser (Creighton) would relieve Eli Larson (Sioux Falls). With one out and the bases loaded, the lights at Duncan Field went out. Another delay would ensue, and when it came back on, Graham Hylton would go from a 0-2 count to walking home the winning run. 7-6 Sodbusters in 10 innings. The final line saw the Moo score six (6) runs on eleven (11) hits and commit four (4) errors. The Sodbusters scored seven (7) runs on seven (7) hits and had two (2) errors defensively. Cohen Nelson picks up the win for the Sodbusters while Joe Hauser gets handed the loss. Fremont moves to a 13-16 record overall and a 3-3 second-half record. The Prospects move to a 16-13 overall record and a 1-1 second-half record. The Moo are back tomorrow night at Moller Field to take on the Prospects at 4:00 for game one of a doubleheader.
July 3, 2025
The Moo dropped game two of the series against the Prospects 6-2 on Wednesday night. Moller Field was the site for the final game of the two-game series against the Nebraska Prospects. The Moo entered the contest with the best record in the second half at 3-1 and looked to continue the good start. Logan Anderson (Sioux Falls) would return to Moller Field, and the Prospects would welcome him back with swinging bats. Three hits against Anderson, the biggest being a two-run shot from Mike Valdivia to cap off a 3-0 lead before the Moo could bat. The Moo would strand runners on the corners in the bottom half and would come up empty in the first. Anderson would work an easy second, striking out two and not allowing a base runner to reach. The same would go for the Moo in the bottom of the second as Isaac Bourges would strike out two. Anderson would begin to settle in during the third as he would rack up two more strikeouts, upping his total to six.. He would finish five innings with eleven total strikeouts. The Prospects would go scoreless during the third and the fifth. The Moo would push across a run in the fourth. Preston Gajewski (NOC-Tonkawa) would plate a run because of his hustle, causing a wild throw to first to break up a would-be double play. Brayden Jones (Doane) would scramble home in the chaos to make it 3-1. The Prospects would answer with two runs in the fifth and a lone run in the sixth to make it 6-1 Prospects. The culprit causing trouble for the Moo offensive woes would come from the right arm of Gil Schroeder. Schroeder would throw four and a third innings, allowing one run (after he was removed in the ninth) and struck out three batters. The Moo’s last bit of offense would come in the ninth. Grant Rychnovsky (Northwestern-IA) would sacrifice himself on a long fly ball to bring home Nate Wachter (South Dakota State) to make it 6-2. The next batter, Brayden Jones, would ground out to end the ballgame with a final score of 6-2 in favor of the Prospects. The final line saw the Moo score two (2) runs on four (4) hits and commit four (4) errors. The Prospects scored six (6) runs on seven (7) hits and had four (4) errors defensively. Gil Schroeder picks up the win for the Prospects while Logan Anderson gets handed the loss. Fremont moves to a 13-15 record overall and a 3-2 second-half record. The Prospects move to a 5-12 overall record. The Moo are back Friday night at Duncan Field in Hastings to take on the Sodbusters at 6:35 for a Fourth of July celebration.

Cows win their second game of the second half with a 17-9 final over the Nebraska Prospects. The Moo came home after their four-game road trip looking to pick up another win in the second half. Waiting for them when they got back were the Nebraska Prospects, an all too familiar foe who have had their success against the Moo this season, picking up three wins. Brooks Kniefl (Wayne State) would take the mound opposite Nathan Anderson to start this one off at Moller Field. The Prospects would put runners on immediately as the first two batters in the lineup would reach on a hit and a walk against Kneifl. A ground out from Jacob Perrin would make it 1-0 Prospects after the top half of the first. The Moo would answer the Prospect first with a five-run first. Tanner Jacobsen (Cloud County) would reach on a walk and score on a Michael Baker (Cal State-Chico) sacrifice fly to draw even. Then, with the bases loaded, Joshua Hardamon (Midland) would bring home two on a single into center. After Hardamon’s single brought the fans to their feet, Nate Wachter (South Dakota State) would keep them there with a two-RBI triple to make it 5-1 Moo at the end of the 32-minute first inning. Both teams would go quietly in both the second and third as the score would remain 5-1, Moo. The fourth would be Kniefl’s toughest inning to work through. Five runs would score on six hits and two Moo errors to put the Prospects up by a run. It was 6-5 Prospects as Fremont wouldn’t answer in the bottom of the fifth. Parker Otte would relieve Kneifl in the sixth, and it took a few batters for him to find his rhythm. Two walks would begin the inning, then a double steal would move them into scoring position. A passed ball would bring home a run to make it 7-5. The Moo would go scoreless in the sixth and the seventh, and the Prospects would push across another run on another Moo error in the seventh, making it 8-5 Prospects. As the fans stretched for the seventh, it would rejuvenate the Moo bats. Michael Baker would reach on a walk, and Henry Hayman (Akron) would hit a double to put them both in scoring position for Joshua Hardamon. Hardamon would rocket one at Finn Hockstein at third. Hockstein knocked it down but lost track of the ball. Baker scored on the initial contact, and Hayman wouldn’t stop around third, and when Hockstein found the ball, he fired home. The throw would be in the dirt, allowing Hayman to score to make it 8-7 As soon as the Moo pulled it within one, the Prospects would get a run back with an RBI double from Avery Moore down the left field line to make it 9-7 Prospects in the top of the eighth. Brinden Floyd (RCSJ) would lead off the bottom of the inning for the Moo with a walk. Behind him, Tanner Jacobson would work a walk. Brezinski (Butler) would extend his on-base streak to 13 games in a row as he would get plunked to load the bases. Seve Aguirre (Southeastern Oklahoma State) would bring home a run on a fielder’s choice to pull it within one. Then, Michael Baker would double down the right field line to tie the game at nine. Tyman Long (North Dakota State) would get the intentional walk. Bases would remain loaded after Hayman would pop out to second. For the second out of the inning. Then, Prospect pitcher Jack Harris would face The Hammer. Joshua Hardamon would double to right to clear the bases to give the Moo a 12-9 lead. From there, it went from better to best for the Moo as they would push across five more runs on doubles from Nate Wacther, Tanner Jacobsen, and Seve Aguirre to end the ten-run inning. Moo started the eighth down 9-7 and finished it in front 17-9. Joe Hauser (Creighton) would slam the door in the top of the ninth, securing the Moo’s 17-9 victory. July 1, 2025
The Fremont Moo wrapped up their road trip with a 6-2 victory over the Hastings Sodbusters on Monday from Duncan Field. The Moo made the nine-hour trip west from Casper to face their in-state rivals in Hastings to wrap up the road trip. The Bovine Nine entered Duncan Field with one thing in mind: getting win number two of the second half. Both Fremont’s Aiden McGrath (Skyline) and Hastings' Markus Miller would work a one-two-three scoreless first inning. Going to the second, the Moo would score first for the fourth game in a row. Brinden Floyd (RCSJ) would get grazed by a pitch to be put on first. Behind him, big bad Brayden Jones (Doane) would line a double into center to score Floyd from first to make it 1-0 Moo. Next batter, Grant Ryan (Northwest CC) would slap a slow-rolling single into center to score Jones to make it 2-0 Moo at the end of the top of the second. McGrath would shut down the Sodbusters in the bottom half, striking out two batters to keep it at 2-0 Moo. The top of the third would be a quiet one for the Moo. Three batters, three outs for Markus Miller to send it to the bottom half. The Sodbusters would get on the board from a Drew Vega RBI single to bring home Zane Wilson to cut the lead in half. McGrath would work out of it with a fly ball to left, ending the threat, stranding a runner. The scoreboard read 2-1, Moo heading to the fourth. The Moo once again went in order. A four-pitch inning for Markus Miller as the McGrath would answer with a three-batter up, three-batter down fourth inning. The Moo can’t overcome a seven-run Spud attack in the sixth and fall 12-2 in Casper. The rubber match of the series took place on a sunny day in Casper. The Moo looked to carry over their success from their nineteen-run performance the night before and start the second half 2-0. The first two innings would be quiet on both sides. The Spuds and Moo would threaten but were unable to break the deadlock until the third. Fremont would strike first in the third. Walks to Caiden Brezinski (Butler), Michael Baker (Cal State-Chico), and a single from Cooper Fuchino (Creighton) would load the bases for Seve Aguirre (Southeastern Oklahoma State). Aguirre would drop a single into right to bring home two runners to make it 2-0 Moo after the third. The Spuds would strike with an RBI double from Cael McCarville in the fourth to cut the Moo lead in half. Dickinson would strand McCarville on second to keep the Moo in front 2-1. An inning later, the Spuds would strike for another as Preston Gajewski (NOC-Tonkawa) would make an incredible diving back-handed pick at second to get an out, but Matt Marsic would scramble home to tie it at two. Luca Dickinson (Skyline) would work through five, giving up two earned runs on four hits while walking three and striking out two. Grant Rychnovsky (Northwestern-IA) would come in relief and have an unfortunate time in the sixth. Seven runs, one earned, on five hits would blow this one open. His defense would not provide much help, committing two errors. The scoreboard read 9-2 Spuds at the end of the sixth inning. The Moo would go scoreless in the seventh, and Cooper Lucas (East Texas Baptist) would relieve Rychnovsky. Lucas would struggle with command on the mound, and the two runs that would score to end it would be charged against him. The Spuds would take the 12-2 win in seven because of the ILB run rule and win the series. The final line saw the Moo score two (2) runs on six (6) hits and commit two (2) errors. The Spuds scored twelve (12) runs on nine (9) hits and had one (1) error defensively. Mathew Ramos picks up the win for the Spuds while Grant Rychnovsky gets handed the loss. The Moo capture their first win of the second half as they crush Casper Spuds 19-5. The Moo’s second half began along the banks of the North Platte River in Casper for a team that looked to turn around their fortunes from a fourth-place finish in the first half. Much like the night prior, the Moo jumped on the Spuds starter immediately. The third batter of the game, Cooper Fuchino (Creighton), would leave Mike Lansing Field to center for his first Moo home run of the season, a two-run home run to make it 2-0 Moo. The second would see Joshua Hardamon (Midland) lead off the inning with a double. Preston Gajewski (NOC-Tonkawa) would drive Hardamon in on a miss-fielded ball at first to make it 3-0. Gajewski would scramble for third on a failed pick-off attempt and would score on a Brady Brown (South Dakota State) fielder’s choice to make it 4-0, Moo. That’s all they would manage at the end of the top of two. The Spuds would respond much like the night before. The rain began to fall in bunches as the Spuds would flood the bases and put across two runs to make it 4-2 at the end of the second. One on a fielder’s choice and another on a stolen base on a throw down to second. The wind and the rain would cause a break in the action as a rain delay would endure for a little under an hour. The field was dried as best it could, and play resumed in the third. The Moo picked up where they left off. Fuchino reached on an infield hit and stole second. Henry Hayman (Akron) would reach on an error, and amid the chaos of the play, Fuchino would come around to score. The Spuds would go silent in the bottom of the third as the scoreboard read 5-2 Moo. Cooper Fuchino was put on cycle watch as in the fourth, he would double home Preston Gajewski to make it 6-2 Moo. In the bottom half of the inning, Elijah Reeves would single down the left field line to bring home a run to cut the Moo lead in half at 6-3 at the end of the fourth inning. The fifth would see the two batters reach on a walk and a hit. The lead runner, Brody Barker, would make it to third and score the lone run of the frame on a passed ball that clipped the umpire, making 6-4. The sixth inning would see the Moo load the bases on a pair of hit batsmen and a walk. Brinden Floyd (RCSJ) would strike out, and Fuchino would pop out in foul grounds. Michael Baker (Cal State-Chico) would leave his mark with a grounder that would sneak through the legs of the shortstop Jack Opione to bring home two runs. The Moo would take an 8-4 lead at the end of the inning. Wesley Cunningham (Howard) would go deep into this one. Six and two-thirds of the seven for the Hotstepper in his first start of the season, giving up four runs on six hits and four walks while registering four strikeouts. An incredible outing in his longest outing of the season. The Spuds would close in on the Moo's lead in the 8th. River Smith would lead off the inning with a walk and score on a fielder’s choice to cut the deficit to three, 8-5 Moo after eight. The top of the ninth would see the Moo push across ELEVEN more runs, highlighted by Joshua Hardamon's grand slam and Cooper Fuchino collecting a triple to secure his cycle. It gave the Moo a fourteen-run lead with three outs to get in the game. The Spuds would go quietly in the ninth, as the Moo secure the 19-5 win. Nineteen runs for the Moo tie the season record for most runs scored in a game. Cooper Fuchino sets the club mark with four extra bae hits and twelve total bases.
