The Moo defeated the Prospects by a score of 9-6 Saturday night at Moller Field. Zach Vincent collects his final Moller victory in the process with a great seven inning performance. The sun rose upon Moller Field Saturday morning while the sun began to set on the 2025 Fremont Moo season. The final series of the season welcomed the Nebraska Prospects to the ballpark. A familiar foe that the Moo had seen twelve times this season. The Moo looked to capture what would be their eighth victory this season against the traveling Prospects team. Zach Vincent (Midland) would take the ball in his final collegiate level start and pitch a clean first inning. Jackson Cahoy pitched opposite of him for the Prospects and pitched a scoreless first of his own. Vincent would work another clean inning before the Moo would score a run for him. Midland teammate Joshua Hardamon drove home Henry Hayman (Akron) to make it 1-0. The Moo would strand two runners on base to end the second but they had a one run lead, going to the third. Another shutout inning from Vincent would bring the Moo bats up in the third. A lead off double from Tanner Jacobson (Cloud County) would bring up Carter Sintek. Sintek (Houston) would bring home Jacobson on a double to left on an incredibly high hop over the third baseman's head to make it 2-0. A few batters later, Henry Hayman (Akron) would rip a single into left to score two runs for Fremont. To cap off a four run inning, Seve Aguirre (SE Oklahoma State) would reach on an error to bring the final run of the Moo third. The Moo’s five run lead would be extended on a passed ball, scoring Carter Sintek and a sac fly from Cooper Fuchino (Creighton) to make it 7-0 Moo. The Moo didn’t stop scoring in the fourth. Nate Wachter (South Dakota State) single to right field to make it 8-0 Moo as the inning came to a close. Vincent would continue to deal in this one, but a single in fifth from Prospect pitcher/designated hitter Gil Schroeder would bring home a run to make it 8-1. In the seven, the Prospects would manufacture three runs to close the gap. Coby Hatcher would single into center to bring home one run. Two batters later, Gil Schroeder would drive a ball into the right field corner. The ball would get lodged in between the fence and the tarp, while the Moo right fielder pleaded for a ground rule double, Schroeder would gallop around the bases for what would be called a two run, inside the park home run. The scoreboard now read 8-4 at the end of the top of the seventh. The Moo struck for a lone run in the bottom of the seventh. Schroeder would walk home Tanner Jacobson with the bases loaded but would later get out of the inning, only allowing the lone run to score. The top of the eighth would see the Prospects push across two more runs. Vincent’s final outing ended after seven innings, as he allowed five runs, four earned, on six hits, two walks, and struck out five Prospects. He gave the ball to Fremont native, Landon Mueller (Eastern Michigan). One run scored on a groundout to first and another on an errand throwdown to second from Nate Wachter, trying to throw a runner out stealing second. The Moo’s lead dissipated down to three runs. After a scoreless eighth from the Moo, Mueller walked back out to the hill at Moller and got the final three outs, securing the Moo’s 9-6 victory. Zach Vincent would collect the win while Jackson Cahoy gets handed the loss. The Moo scored nine (9) runs on twelve (12) hits, while committing three (3) errors. The Prospects scored six (6) runs on seven (7) hits and committed one (1) error. Fremont moves to a 23-25 record on the season. The Prospects move to a 9-23 overall record after the result. The Moo are back at home tomorrow night, against the Nebraska Prospects beginning at 5:05 at Moller Field, for the final game of the 2025 season.

It was a topsy-turvy affair that saw multiple lead changes, but the Zap prevailed 12-11 in ten innings. The final Fiesta Friday fell upon a cloudy Moller Field. The Moo played spoiler the night prior against the Oahe Zap. Oahe was in desperate need of a victory as they entered tied for first in the second half with the Spearfish Sasquatch. It was a monumental clash with massive playoff implications. Broc Songster (Doane) got the nod against the Zap, the first time this season Songster would face them. After a twelve-day layoff, Songster would struggle in the first inning, walking the first two and hitting the third batter to load the bases with no outs. A sacrifice fly off the bat of Ty Farwell would be deep enough to bring home a run. The Zap would load the bases once again, but with two outs. Alex Jackson would win the battle against Songster, lining a two-RBI single into left center to give them a three-to-nothing lead. Songster would work out of the inning, but the Moo were down 3-0. All the Zap action happened before the Moo stepped to the plate in the bottom of the first. Carter Sintek (Houston) would reach on an infield hit and steal second base. It set up Tyman Long (North Dakota State) with a prime opportunity for an RBI, and he would not miss it, slashing a double into the right-center gap to get the Moo on the board. The first would come to a close, and the Moo would trail 3-1. Songster would pitch a clean second inning, stranding two Zap runners in scoring position. Brayden Jones (Doane) would begin the Moo second. Seve Aguirre (SE Oklahoma State) would reach with a single, moving Jones over to third. Grant Ryan (Northeast CC) would rope a single into left to drive in Jones to pull the deficit down to one. The designated hitter was also the Moo pitcher Broc Songster, as he would help his own cause. A balk would move Aguirre and Ryan into scoring position for Songster, and he would roll over to the left side to bring home Aguirre, tying the game at three. The Moo would strand Ryan at third as the second came to a close. The third would see Songster load the bases again on two walks and hitting a batter. He would walk home a run, giving the Zap a 4-3 lead. Songster would strike out three batters in the frame as he had accumulated seven strikeouts and seven walks in three innings of work up to that point. The Moo bats would go quietly in the third, sending Songster back out to the hill for the fourth. The Moo and the Zap would go scoreless in both the fourth and fifth before heading to an exciting sixth inning. The Zap would push across two runs against Joe Hauser (Creighton), making it 6-3 Zap. The Moo bats would strike back in the bottom half of the inning. An RBI ground-rule double from Henry Hayman (Akron) would pull it within two runs. Cooper Fuchino (Creighton) would bring home a run on a fielder's choice. The Moo would strand two runners as the sixth came to an end with Fremont trailing, 6-5. After a scoreless seventh from Hauser, the Moo would look to rally in the bottom of the inning. The first two batters would be retired, but that's when the Comeback Cows would emerge. Back-to-back walks would warrant Brady Glenn to enter the game. Glenn had faced the Moo twice and hadn’t given up a run in six and two-thirds innings. The second pitch Henry Hayman would see would be skied in the air to shallow right. What was seemingly going to be the final out of the inning fell for a hit as Gavin Fraser couldn’t catch it. Grant Ryan would score to tie the game at six. The next batter was Carter Sintek. Sintek would lace a ball over the centerfielders had to bring home two more runs. As Sintek slid into third with a triple, the scoreboard read 8-6 with the Moo in front. The inning ended with the Moo with their first lead of the game. Hauser would give way to Lucas Hamzeh (Midland) for the eighth. An error, a walk, and a single would load the bases for Mason Lang. Lang would hit a long fly ball into center to clear the bases, retaking the lead for the Zap 9-8. With Lang on second, Tyman Long would make an incredible diving catch in right. Lang would take off for third, assuming the ball was dropped. Long fired the ball into Carter Sintek, who would touch second for a double play. Mazeh would get the final out, sending the Moo bats back to the plate behind once again. After a lead-off pop out in foul grounds, Luke Saxton (Missouri-St. Louis) would double down the right field line, placing him at second. After a passed ball and a walk, the Moo would have runners on the corners with only one away. Seve Aguirre would work a full count and bloop a single into right to tie the ballgame again. The Moo would not be able to score anyone else, meaning the game would head to the ninth tied 9-9. Hamzeh would start the ninth, but after a hit batter and a four-pitch walk, Hamzeh would strike out Nick Golden. Golden, visibility upset with the strike call, would be ejected. With one gone, Hamzeh would strike out Aiden Johnson for the second out. Ty Farwell would hit a rocket at Brayden Jones. Jones would knock it down and flip it on to Hamzeh, covering first to keep the game tied at nine, going to the bottom half of the ninth. The bottom of the ninth began with Henry Hayman reaching on an error, but it would be negated as Carter Sintek would ground into a double play. Fuchino would strike out to send it to the tenth inning. Brandt Phillips (Hutchinson CC) would enter for the tenth with Ty Farwell being the runner on second to begin the inning. Farwell would score on a Mason Lang single to give them the lead. The Zap would add to it, scoring two runs on a passed ball, giving the Zap a 12-9 lead. But the Moo got to bat in the bottom of the inning, however. Cooper Fuchino would be the runner to begin on second and score easily as Tyman Long laces a double over the centerfielder's head. Still work to be done as Luke Saxton would follow Long’s example with a double of his own, scoring Long from second to pull it within one. The Zap would get the first and second out of the inning via the strikeout. Grant Ryan was the last hope for Fremont, and he would go down looking to end this incredible contest, 12-11 Quinn Ludvigson would collect the win while Brandt Phillips gets handed the loss. The Moo scored eleven (11) runs on thirteen (13) hits, while committing three (3) errors. The Zap scored twelve (12) runs on seven (7) hits and committed second (2) errors. Fremont moves to a 22-25 record overall and a 12-12 second-half record. The Zap moves to a 25-23 overall record and a 15-7 second-half record after the result The Moo are back at home tomorrow night, against the Nebraska Prospects beginning at 7:05 at Moller Field, as the final homestand of the season continues.

The final homestand of the season at Moller Field would see the Moo lose 7-2 to the Nebraska Prospects on Monday night. Fremont’s backs were against the wall heading into the ballgame against the Nebraska Prospects. The playoffs are fast approaching in ILB, and the Moo is sitting three and a half games back. They needed a victory and for the Bison to secure a victory over the Spearfish Sasquatch on the night to stay alive in the second-half pennant race. Moo manager Conor McGonigal called upon Brooks Kneifl (Wayne State) to lead the way on the hill for the Moo. Kneifl would receive some early defensive help, as at the top of the first inning, with a runner on second, Mike Valdivia would go the opposite way with a line drive to right. Paul Schuyler would turn for home when Tyman Long (North Dakota State) would fire a rope to home to peg Schuyler at the plate, saving a run and ending the top of first. Moo’s incredible comeback split the doubleheader and picked up a win to wrap up the road trip. After yesterday’s game was suspended due to rain, it would become a doubleheader at Duncan Field. The Moo looked to complete a comeback in game one and go for a series win in game two. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Resumed Game from Saturday: Game one of this impromptu doubleheader would begin in the bottom of the fifth inning, with the Moo trailing 1-0. Eli Larson (Sioux Falls) would take the mound relieving Tyler Wise (Kansas Wesleyan) after his four-inning outing last night. The first pitch would be thrown at 5:01, and Larson would work a clean fifth to send it to the sixth. Larson and Braden Cork for Hastings would both work clean sixth and seventh innings on the mound before the Moo would fancy their first run in the eighth. Rocco Geritano (SUSCC) would reach on a base hit to kickstart the bats in the frame. He would make it to second on a Cooper Fuchino (Creighton) single, setting up Henry Hayman (Akron) with a prime RBI opportunity that he wouldn’t squander. Hayman would punch a hit into right field, bringing home Geritano to tie the game at one. Fuchino would make it to third but would not score in the inning. The Sodbusters would respond with two outs in the eighth. Brady Alexander would reach on a hit and steal second, setting up Kale Jensen for an opportunity to take a late lead. Jensen wouldn’t miss the Larson fastball and poke it into left, bringing home Alexander to make it 2-1 Hastings. The runs wouldn’t stop coming for the Busters as Joey Hecker would bring home two on a bases-loaded single to make it 4-1 Hastings. Another two-out single from Jett Hannaford would bring home the fourth and final run of the inning. The Moo trailed by four runs heading to the ninth, down by a score of 5-1. Sodbuster reliever Braden Cork would get the win, and Eli Larson would get the loss for the Moo The Moo scored one (1) run on ten (10) hits, while committing two (2) errors. The Sodbusters scored five (5) runs on seven (7) hits and committed no errors. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game Two The second game of the doubleheader began at 6:35 at Duncan Field and would be a seven-inning affair. After the loss in game one, the Moo needed a win more than ever in the second-half pennant chase to stay in contention. The opening frame would be a scoreless one for the Moo, but the Sodbusters would counter with two runs, one earned on a fielder's choice and another on a fielding error from the Moo to make it 2-0 Hastings at the end of the first. The Moo and the Sodbusters would go scoreless in the second, third, fourth, and fifth as starters Logan Anderson (Sioux Falls) and Josh West would dazzle in this one. The Moo starter Anderson would go five innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on two walks while striking out five batters. Once he left, Joe Hauser (Creighton) would enter and give up two runs in his inning of work. It was almost three, but left fielder Carter Schellsmidt would hit Carter Sintek (Houston) on the relay to home to get the final out of the sixth inning at the plate, as the scoreboard read 4-0 Hastings, going to the seventh. The Moo would muster a run in the top of the seventh on a Seve Aguirre (SE Oklahoma State) single to bring home Brayden Jones (Doane) to make it 4-1. With two runners on, Sintek would walk, which would give way to Carter Schellsmidt. Schellsmidt would drop a single into the center to bring home two runs to make it a one-run ball game with the tying run on third for Fremont. Cooper Fuchino dug in with an opportunity to tie the game. A grounder over to Joey Hecker would be mishandled at first, allowing Fuchino to reach and Sintek to score, tying the game at four. Hayman would dig in and fly out, sending this game to the bottom of the seventh. Hauser would begin the inning, securing the first two outs before Brady Alexander would hustle his way to second with a double to put the winning run in scoring position. Hauser would get the final out and send us to an extra eighth inning. Hayman would be the runner on second to begin the frame and would move over to third on an infield single from Tyman Long (North Dakota State). Brayden Jones would launch a fly ball into left. It would have been out at Moller, but it was good enough to be a sac fly to score Hayman, making it 5-4 Moo. The same idea applies for Joshua Hardamon’s rocket into center to bring home Long to make it 6-4. Tyler Wise (Kansas Wesleyan) would poke a single into right to score Hardamon to give Fremont a three-run lead. Fuchino would dig in with two on and two out and put a hole in the left field wall with a two-RBI double, giving the Moo a 9-4 lead. Hauser would allow an unearned run to score to slam the door shut to split the series with a 9-4 win. Hauser picks up the win while Ethan Marshall gets the loss. The Moo scored nine (9) runs on eleven (11) hits, while committing two (2) errors. The Sodbusters scored five (5) runs on nine (9) hits and committed two (2) errors. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In total, on the afternoon, Fremont moves to a 21-23 record overall and an 11-10 second-half record. The Sodbusters moved to a 26-18 overall record and a 10-6 second-half record. The Moo are back at home tomorrow night with a bout against the Nebraska Prospects beginning at 7:05 at Moller Field, beginning the final homestand of the season.

The contest between the Fremont Moo and the Hastings Sodbusters has been suspended in the middle of the fifth inning. The rest of the matchup will be played tomorrow as part of a doubleheader beginning at 5:05. Here is a recap of the first five innings so you’ll know where we are at when we resume play. The Fremont Moo walked into historic Duncan Field in dire straits. The Bovine Nine had dropped the series against the first place Oahe Zap, dropping them into last place in the second-half standings. In desperate need of a win, the Moo couldn’t wait to get this rivalry matchup started. But they would have to wait. The umpires were nowhere to be found at the time of first pitch. It would take an hour of turning over stones and making calls to find two umpires and they would eventually appear to a thunderous applause from the home fans. Cooper Fuchino (Creighton) would clobber a baseball that would hit the centerfield wall four-hundred and eight feet from home plate but would be left stranded at second as the top of the first came to an end. The Sodbusters would strike early with an RBI single from Brady Alexander to make it 1-0 Sodbusters at the end of the first. After that, the two would not supply any offense through the second, third, fourth, and the top of the fifth as the skies opened up in the middle of the fifth and rain fell from the heavens beginning another delay at Duncan Field. The delay would begin at 8:49, right before the bottom of the fifth and at 9:20, the game would be suspended until tomorrow afternoon, beginning at around 5:00.
