Dickinson, North Dakota- The Badlands Big Sticks jumped out to a 7-0 lead over five innings and went on to defeat the Fremont Moo, 10-5, Saturday night on Astoria Field, at Dakota Bank and Trust Ballpark.


Badlands got on the board in the bottom of the first. Leadoff batter Quade Peters doubled off Moo starter Landon Mueller, then advanced to third and home on consecutive passed balls to put the Big Sticks up 1-0.


In the fourth, the Big Sticks added two more. Carson Carey, Brant Kragel, Troy Berg and Isaac Huettl all walked to push across a run. Three batters later, Peters did the same, making it 3-0. Teron Williams came out of the bullpen to replace Mueller and got Cooper Hill to ground out to shortstop to end the inning.


Badlands' biggest inning of the night was in the fifth. Danny Rogers and Carson Carey singled. Next, Kragel did the same, scoring Rogers. Troy Berg hit into a fielder's choice and stole second base. Then, Huettle hit a two-rbi double to make it 6-0. Cam Credeur grounded out to third, advancing Huettl to third base. Then, Balas Buckmaster reached on a throwing error by Moo shortstop Ben Swails, allowing Huettl to score, making it 7-0.


The Moo offense showed some life in the top of the sixth. With two out, Tyman Long hit a 2-1 pitch off starter Kyler Beekman, deep over the fence, just to the right of straight away center field, to make it 7-1. Tyler Harrington singled and Henry Hayman walked. Jack Bright came out of the bullpen for Badlands, replacing Beekman. With Ben Swails at the plate, Harrington and Hayman executed a double-steal to put runners at second and third. Swails then reached on an infield single, scoring Harrington, making it 7-2. Tyler Hummel singled, bringing home Hayman and putting runners at the corners. Then, Swails would score on a wild pitch to make it 7-4.


The Big Sticks would get a run back in the bottom of the sixth. Cooper Hill hit a high pop up, right of the mound, which Williams dropped, and Hill advanced to second, to leadoff the inning. A passed ball would advance Hill to third. Three batters later, Kragel smacked a rbi double, making it 8-4.


Badlands would cap their scoring in the bottom of the eighth. Rogers and HIll drew back to back walks off reliever Braden Sweet. Three batters later, Kragel hit his second double of the night, scoring both baserunners, making it 10-4.


In the ninth, Hummel singled and pinch hitter Blake Tablazon walked, putting runners at first and second. After Trey Nichols flew out to left field, Christian Hobbs reached on a fielder's choice. Hummel then scored on a passed ball to make it 10-5. However, reliever Ty Madison got Josh Blount to swing and miss at a 3-2 breaking ball, to end the game.


Big Sticks starter Kyler Beekman (3-0) earned the win. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up four hits, three runs, walked four, struck out six, and gave up the home run to Long. Jack Bright pitched 0.1 innings, giving up two hits, one run, and struck out one. Ty Madison (1) earned the save. He pitched three innings, giving up one hit, one run, walked two and struck out two.


Moo starter Landon Mueller (1-1) took the loss. The Fremont native, at Southeast Community College, pitched 3.2 innings, giving up three hits, three runs, walked five and struck out seven. Teron Williams, the Baldwin, Missouri native, at Bellevue University, pitched 2.1 innings, giving up five hits, three earned runs, and struck out one. Braden Sweet, the Omaha native, at Iowa Western Community College, pitched two innings, giving up one hit, two runs, walked two and struck out one.


Offensively, Badlands was led by Quade Peters, going 2-for-3 with a rbi. Brant Kragel was 3-for-4 with four runs batted in and Isaac Huettl was 2-for-3 with 3 rbi's.


Fremont's Tyman Long was 1-for-4 with a rbi. The Sioux Falls, South Dakota native, at Southern Nevada, hit a home run. Tyler Harrington was 2-for-4. The Lakeland, Tennessee native, headed to University of Alabama-Birmingham, was 2-for-4. Tyler Hummel was 2-for-3. The Nolansville, Tennessee native, at Colorado School of the Mines, had one run batted in.


More Information: With the loss, Fremont's season-high five-game win streak came to an end. The Moo's lead over the Big Sticks shrunk to one game, at the top of the Independence League Baseball Association standings. With Tyler Harrington's leadoff double in the fourth, he stretched his consecutive game hit streak to eleven games. Tyman Long's home run in the sixth inning was his third in the last four games, and he stretched his hit streak to five straight games. Tyler Hummel's single in the sixth, gave him a three game hitting streak.

Moo Claim Series Victory Behind 15-Run Offensive Outburst

FREMONT, Neb. — The Fremont Moo wrapped up their three-game series against the Hastings Sodbusters on Sunday evening with a nine-inning contest. The Moo's offense erupted for 15 runs as Fremont earned a 15-11 victory to claim the series, 2-1. Hastings got on the board first in the top of the first inning with a single, a stolen base, and a Moo error to take an early 1-0 lead. Brayden Mitchell and Eamon O'Gorman drew walks to lead off the second inning, and Tukker Horner followed with a single to score Mitchell and tie the game at 1-1. Ripken Fleck ripped a double down the left-field line to score O'Gorman and give the Moo a 2-1 advantage. Giovanni Malatesta followed with a single up the middle to bring home Fleck and extend the lead to 3-1. The Sodbusters answered by stringing together several hits and sacrifice flies to knot the game at 3-3. Tyler Schroeder started the third inning with a one-out single, and Mitchell followed with a base hit to left field. A throwing error allowed Schroeder to advance to third and Mitchell to move into scoring position. Jacob Coshenet lined a double to left field to score Schroeder and put the Moo back in front, 4-3. O'Gorman added a sacrifice groundout to score Mitchell and make it 5-3. Horner then delivered a two-out RBI single to left field, bringing home Coshenet and extending the lead to 6-3. The Sodbusters added a run in the fourth inning to cut the deficit to 6-4. Malatesta drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the fourth, and Wyatt Throckmorton was hit by a pitch. Easton Leahy singled to load the bases. A sacrifice fly scored Malatesta to increase the lead to 7-4. Coshenet then blasted a three-run home run over the left-field fence to stretch the Moo advantage to 10-4. Hastings continued to battle back, scoring two runs in the fifth and another in the sixth to trim the lead to 10-7. Mitchell and Coshenet opened the bottom of the sixth with back-to-back singles. O'Gorman lined a single into right-center field to score Mitchell and make it 11-7. Fleck reached on an error that allowed Coshenet to score, extending the lead to 12-7. Malatesta followed with a two-run single to left field, bringing home O'Gorman and Fleck to push the lead to 14-7. The Sodbusters continued to chip away, scoring three runs in the seventh inning to cut the deficit to 14-10. Schroeder led off the bottom of the seventh with a single up the middle. O'Gorman drew a two-out walk, and Horner reached on an error that allowed Schroeder to score and increase the lead to 15-10. Hastings added a run in the ninth inning, but the Moo shut the door to secure the hard-fought 15-11 victory and series win. Leahy Powers Moo to Doubleheader Split Against Hastings

FREMONT, Neb. — Fremont Moo opened a three-game series against the Hastings Sodbusters on Saturday evening with a doubleheader after Friday night's game was postponed because of the threat of severe weather. The Moo fell 8-3 in Game 1 before rallying for a 7-3 victory in Game 2 to earn a split of the doubleheader. GAME 1: Hastings Sodbusters 8, Fremont Moo 3 Ripken Fleck led off the first inning with a single to left field. Cooper Fuchino and Easton Leahy followed with back-to-back walks to load the bases. Burke Jasa delivered an RBI single to score Fleck and put the Moo on the board first, 1-0. Fuchino later scored on a fielder's choice to extend the lead to 2-0 at the end of the first inning. Hastings responded in the second inning with back-to-back walks, followed by a bunt, sacrifice fly and RBI single to tie the game at 2-2. The Sodbusters took the lead in the third inning with a three-run home run to left field, making it 5-2. Hastings added two more runs in the fourth inning to extend its lead to 7-2. The Sodbusters plated their final run in the fifth inning to make it 8-2. With two outs in the sixth inning, Eamon O'Gorman reached on an error and stole second base. Giovanni Malatesta followed with an RBI single to score O'Gorman and cut the deficit to 8-3. The Sodbusters held off the Moo the rest of the way to secure the 8-3 victory. GAME 2: Fremont Moo 7, Hastings Sodbusters 3 Hastings struck first with a three-run home run in the opening inning to take an early 3-0 lead. Easton Leahy led off the second inning with a double, and Wyatt Throckmorton followed with a single to put runners on the corners. Leahy later scored on a fielder's choice to get the Moo on the board, trailing 3-1. Burke Jasa drew a leadoff walk in the fourth inning. A single by Leahy and a Hastings throwing error advanced Jasa to third and Leahy to second. Jacob Coshenet lifted a sacrifice fly to score Jasa and cut the deficit to 3-2. Throckmorton followed with an RBI single to score Leahy and tie the game at 3-3. Malatesta led off the fifth inning with a single. Jasa reached on a fielder's choice before Leahy stepped to the plate and launched a two-run home run to left field, giving the Moo a 5-3 lead. With two outs, Throckmorton reached on a Hastings error. Liam Sullivan lined a single to left field to move Throckmorton to third. O'Gorman followed with an RBI single to score Throckmorton and make it 6-3. Another Hastings throwing error allowed Sullivan to score, extending the lead to 7-3. The Moo pitching staff held the Sodbusters scoreless the rest of the way to secure the 7-3 victory and earn a split of the doubleheader. Moo Complete Comeback for First Road Victory of Season

SALINA, Kan. — Fremont Moo wrapped up its first road trip in Salina, Kansas, on Thursday night with a 13-10 comeback victory, earning its first road win of the season. After a scoreless first inning, Brayden Mitchell was hit by a pitch to lead off the second. Jacob Cochenet reached on an error, and Mitchell advanced to third on the same throwing error to put runners on the corners. Eamon O'Gorman singled to right field to score Mitchell as the Moo got on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead. The Salina Sliders responded in the bottom of the second with six runs, including a three-run homer, to take a 6-1 lead. Giovanni Malatesta was hit by a pitch to open the third, and Cooper Fuchino reached on a fielder's choice. Easton Leahy brought Fuchino home with a single to right field to make it 6-2. Cochenet drew a walk in the fourth, and O'Gorman was hit by a pitch. Tukker Horner then drew a walk to load the bases. A single to center field by Ripken Fleck scored Cochenet and O'Gorman. Malatesta followed with a single to center field that scored Horner and cut the deficit to 6-5. The Sliders extended their lead to 9-5 in the fifth. Horner got the Moo started in the sixth with a leadoff walk. Fleck and Malatesta followed with walks to load the bases. Fuchino then drew a walk to score Horner and make it 9-6. Fleck later came home, and Mitchell and Cochenet drew walks to once again load the bases. O'Gorman was hit by a pitch, bringing in another run to cut the deficit to 9-8. Horner reached on an error in the seventh, and Fuchino crushed a two-run homer to left field to give the Moo a 10-9 lead. Salina answered in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 10-10. Mitchell, O'Gorman and Horner each drew walks to open the eighth. Fleck singled to right field to score Mitchell and O'Gorman, giving the Moo a 12-10 advantage. Malatesta followed with an RBI single to score Horner and extend the lead to 13-10. Burke Jasa shut down the Sliders over the final three innings to earn the win for Fremont. Jasa tossed 3.0 innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out three. Moo Battle Back, Fall Short Against Salina

SALINA, Kan. — The Fremont Moo traveled to Salina, Kansas, for their first road trip of the season, taking on the Salina Sliders in the first game of a two-game series. The Moo rallied back from an early deficit but fell short in an 11-7 loss Wednesday night. Ripken Fleck drew a leadoff walk, and Tyler Schroeder reached on a fielder's choice. Fleck and Schroeder both advanced on an error before Liam Sullivan was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Easton Leahy lifted a sacrifice fly to right field to score Fleck and put Moo on the board first. Burke Jasa followed with an RBI single that brought home Schroeder to give Fremont a 2-0 lead after the first inning. Salina answered in the bottom of the first, tying the game at 2-2 with a run-scoring single and a Moo error. The Sliders took control in the third inning, stringing together consecutive hits, including a home run, to build a 6-2 advantage. Jasa drew a walk in the fourth, while Giovanni Malatesta and Eamon O'Gorman followed with back-to-back singles to load the bases. Wyatt Throckmorton lined a single to right field, scoring Jasa and Malatesta to cut the deficit to 6-4. Fleck continued the rally with an RBI single that scored O'Gorman, pulling the Moo within one run at 6-5. Leahy led off the fifth with a single, and Jasa followed with a double to put two runners in scoring position. Malatesta drove in Leahy with a sacrifice fly to right field, tying the game at 6-6. Salina regained the lead in the sixth with two runs before adding another in the seventh to extend its advantage to 9-6. Cooper Fuchino drew a one-out walk in the eighth and advanced to second base. Leahy delivered an RBI single to right field, scoring Fuchino and cutting the deficit to 9-7. The Sliders added two insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth to make it 11-7. The Moo continued to battle but could not complete the comeback, falling 11-7 to the Sliders.  Fremont (1-4) will conclude its first road trip Thursday against Salina (2-1). First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Moo Wrap Up Opening Homestand Against Grand Island

FREMONT, Neb. — The Fremont Moo wrapped up a three-game series against the Grand Island Fightin' Cranes on Sunday afternoon. The Moo dropped the series finale, 13-0, in seven innings and were swept in the three-game set. Grand Island jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Fightin' Cranes' bats stayed hot in the second, plating three more runs to extend their advantage to 7-0. A hit-by-pitch and a single added another run in the third inning, making it 8-0. The Fightin' Cranes added to their lead in the fifth inning with a walk and a sacrifice fly, pushing the score to 9-0. Grand Island scored its final four runs in the seventh inning to make it 13-0. The Fightin' Cranes held the Moo scoreless throughout the contest to secure the run-rule victory. Statistical Standout Dominic Palma: 2-for-3, SB  The Fremont Moo will return to action on the road for the first time this season as they travel to Salina, Kansas, to take on the Salina Sliders. The two-game series is scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, and Thursday, June 4, with first pitch set for 7 p.m. each night.

Late Surge Lifts Grand Island Past Moo

FREMONT, Neb. — The Fremont Moo continued their three-game series against the Grand Island Fightin' Cranes on Saturday evening at Moller Field during Salute to Service Night. The Moo jumped out to an early lead with a home run on the first pitch of the game, but the Fightin' Cranes rallied for a 14-4 run-rule victory in seven innings.  Ripken Fleck energized the Fremont crowd early, crushing the first pitch of the game over the left-field fence for a leadoff home run. Liam Sullivan followed with a one-out walk and stole second base to move into scoring position. A two-out double by Easton Leahy brought Sullivan home to double Fremont's advantage. Jacob Coshenet then drew a walk to put runners on the corners. Dominic Palma reached on a throwing error, allowing Leahy to score and extend the Moo lead to 3-0 at the end of the first inning. After a few scoreless frames, Tyler Schroeder got the Moo offense going again in the bottom of the fourth with a two-out double. Fleck followed with an RBI single to score Schroeder and push Fremont's lead to 4-0. Grand Island got on the board in the top of the fifth inning. A two-out walk followed by an error brought home the Fightin' Cranes' first run. A subsequent single plated another run to cut the Moo lead to 4-2. The Fightin' Cranes' bats came alive in the sixth inning, scoring seven runs to take a 9-4 lead. Grand Island continued its offensive surge in the seventh, adding five more runs to extend the advantage to 14-4. Fleck and Sullivan were both hit by pitches in the bottom of the seventh to put two runners aboard. Leahy drew a walk to load the bases, but Grand Island recorded the final out to secure the 14-4 run-rule victory. Moo Fall to Fightin' Cranes in Seven Innings for First Loss of Season

FREMONT, Neb. — The Fremont Moo opened a three-game series against the Grand Island Fightin' Cranes on Friday night at Moller Field. Grand Island jumped out to an early lead and handed the Moo a 14-2 run-rule loss in seven innings. The Fightin' Cranes struck first with a run in the top of the first inning. Giovanni Malatesta recorded a two-out single to get the Moo offense started in the bottom of the first. Liam Sullivan followed with a walk, and Brayden Mitchell was hit by a pitch to load the bases. However, Grand Island escaped the inning with a strikeout to leave the bases loaded. The Fightin' Cranes broke the game open in the fifth inning, extending their lead to 8-0 after scoring three runs in the frame. Grand Island continued to add on, pushing its advantage to 14-0 by the end of the sixth inning. Easton Leahy sparked the Moo offense with a double in the bottom of the sixth. Wyatt Throckmorton drew a walk, and Burke Jasa singled up the middle to load the bases. An error on a throw allowed Leahy to score, putting the Moo on the board and cutting the deficit to 14-1. Eamon O'Gorman and Liam Sullivan opened the bottom of the seventh with consecutive singles. A wild pitch moved both runners into scoring position before a sacrifice fly brought home O'Gorman to make it 14-2. Grand Island recorded the final out to secure the run-rule victory.  The Fremont Moo (1-1) will continue the three-game series against the Grand Island Fightin' Cranes (3-0) on Saturday, May 30. A BovineBall finale ends with the Prospects taking a 10-8 victory as the 2025 season comes to a close. The final game of the season would not be an ordinary contest. The Moo and the Nebraska Prospects would agree to a set of rules, similar to that of BananaBall, but with a Fremont twist: BovineBall. It would be a blast for the players, coaches, and fans, as the ballgame was an avalanche of hilarious moments throughout. The first inning saw Eli Larson (Sioux Falls) allow two runs to score—one on a walk to Jacob Perrin and another on a Dalton Bargo double scoring Perrin. The RBI walk would score a run from second, and Perrin would make it to second because a rule of BovineBall stipulates that if a walk occurs, the batter can run as far as he chooses before every defender can touch the ball. The Moo would push across four runs in the second, with a three-run home run from Tyman Long (North Dakota State) highlighting the inning. The Moo held a 4-2 lead, going to the third inning, where the Moo grabbed a 5-2 lead thanks to a passed ball, scoring Cooper Fuchino (Creighton) from third. The top of the fourth would see the Prospects push a run across on an inside the park home run walk as a wild throw from third baseman Grant Ryan (Northeast CC) would get past the left fielder Joshua Hardamon, allowing Finn Hochstein to score, making it 5-3. After a tie during the home run derby in between the top and bottom of the fourth, the Moo would strike for a run with Brayden Jones (Doane) with an RBI single, bringing in Tanner Jacobson (Cloud County) after Jacobson’s walk triple. The Moo had a 6-3 lead going to the fifth. The Prospects would score two in the fifth to pull the deficit down to a run. The commissioner of Bovine Ball, Ben Ascher would announce that the sixth and seventh innings would be played in reverse, meaning the batters would have to run to third out of the box. It did not affect the Prospects as they would tie the game up with an RBI single from Coby Hatcher. No runs in the seventh for either side before the Prospects put across four runs in the top of the eighth. The Moo mounted a comeback, striking for two runs in the bottom of the eighth, setting up for an exciting ninth with the score at 10-8 in favor of the Prospects. After an exciting ninth that featured a 9-2 double play from Cooper Fuchino. The Moo would go quietly in the ninth, finalizing the game and the 2025 season. A 10-8 loss in BovineBall. The 2025 season concluded with the Moo finishing with a 23-25 overall record and a BovineBall record of 0-1. This means that the records effectively return to 0-0. The winner of the second half will face the Sasquatch in the ILBCS. The Oahe Zap clinched their first ever ILBCS berth.
