Jonathon "JT " Thornhill - Head Coach

A native of California, Thornhill was the head coach for several years at Paso Robles High School (Calif.) and Atascadero High School (Calif.) before working as the hitting coach at Westminster College (Mo.) in 2023. He helped Westminster to a 25-19 overall record on the diamond during his one season with the program. The Blue Jays scored 9.2 runs per game on the season, batting .335 as a team with 60 home runs and a .428 on-base percentage in a record breaking season. Thornhill then travelled to North Dakota and worked with the hitters for 2 years at Valley City State University, where he also took pride in making sure Charlie Brown field was in great shape.
This past summer, Thornhill was the head coach of the Medicine Hat Mavericks where they won 34 games, 3rd most in the last 10 years. Thornhill also worked as the hitting coach for the Orange County Riptide in the California Collegiate League during the summer of 2022.
Thornhill's philosophy is largely surrounded around the mental game and bringing out the best version of each athlete on and off the field. "This game is so difficult as it is, lets get back to enjoying what we get to do. The moment we enjoy what we are doing, the talent will take over from there. Work hard, play the game the right way and have some fun."

Jeff is an accomplished sales and development executive with a diverse background spanning nonprofit leadership, insurance and financial services, media, live events, and sports marketing. He brings a proven track record of driving revenue growth, building strategic partnerships, and leading high-performing teams across multiple industries.
Most recently, Jeff served Operation Homefront, where he supported of military families. In this role, he cultivated corporate and community relationships, executed regional campaigns, and advanced mission-driven initiatives designed to build strong, stable, and secure military households.
His tenure with the Independence Bowl underscores his experience in event and sports management. Over several progressive leadership roles, he was instrumental in developing corporate sponsorships, driving membership growth, increasing premium seating sales, and implementing long-term partnership strategies. His work contributed to expanding revenue streams and strengthening community and corporate
engagement for one of college football’s longstanding bowl games.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife, two kids, and dog.
